    Panathinaikos played a number of matches like this in the last seasons, always with the same recipe. Everyone in the club are aware that Fenerbahce can win only with a firm and aggressive defense and maximum focus during the entire 40 minutes. They will try to slow down the pace, as they managed to do in the bigger part of the match in Germany and take it where they want to. Last year these two teams played two matches in the Top 16; here it ended with 143 points and in Turkey with 149. The line ups have changed, but not the game philosophy. This will be a tactical war between Ivanovic and Obradovic, and I think we won't see a match over 150 points. It's true that in the first meetings both of them were at or above this margin, but Turow and Bayern are exclusively offensively focused teams who like a faster pace and whose defense is bad. However, both Panathinaikos and Fenerbahce have shown this season that they can play a very good defense. Panathinaikos are repairing their level of game in that segment; in three championship matches they received 66, 61 and 58 points, although in the last one they could've gone under 50 if it had been necessary. On the other hand, Fenerbahce have in the championship against the defensively-focused Turks and Gaziantep played at 134 and 136 points, and we could see something similar today. In any case, this margin is set too high, under the influence of their first matches, but it were the opponents who brought them to the big numbers. Today we will see a completely different match. Both teams throw statements about maximum concentration and a smart game, and I see this match at 145 points or less. Details

    Makarova had a bad start to this tournament and openly said this surface doesn't suit her and that she doesn't feel good here. Be that as is may, I think she will get through to the next round. Cornet is not like Begu and Muguzura, who managed to take initiative, forcing Makarova into a more passive approach. That is not Cornet's style. Her instinct forces her to get behind the baseline and wait for the opportunity to counter-attack. I think that will suit Makarova just fine since she has better-quality first service and will finally be given the chance to take initiative. Cornet has been doing really badly recently, which made her serving less consistent. I think two defeats Makarova recorded are no reason for these odds at her win. Cornet's game is horrible at the moment, and I'm convinced Makarova will beat her despite not doing brilliantly at the moment herself. Details

    Kudos to Zvezda for the opening of the season because with their impressive games they've confirmed that they're the strongest team from the Balkans. They even crushed the strong Galatasaray and one should respect that. One should also respect the 20.000 fans whom they will have cheering for them today, as well as the great aggressive defense Zvezda is known to play. However, that's it from what I see today as their advantage. Peras may have a team with a bunch of experience behind them. The atmosphere can't impress them and they will be playing their game. A game which, for a couple of years, has been next to Real and Barca although game-wise they are weaker. The defeats in the first two rounds are a result of adapting and not having enough luck in the finals, and they've come from top teams. Zvezda isn't that level, despite their defense and their fans. If the get hit by Williams' pick game and they lose the transition, Zvezda are out of their weapons. Peras managed to take the aforementioned weapons from Real and Barca for years and I'm sure that what he'll do to Zvezda too. Then what will stand out will be experience, quality and experience of the away team who, according to my opinion, have the greater advantage. For the best option I'd take the team under of the hosts, although two is also a very good choice. Details

    The preview itself tells us what we need to know, even its title. I think that we will see what's going to be the best meeting of the tournament so far, but also a very tied one. For everything he did in Stockholm, Bachinger takes the role of the greater favorite, but I wouldn't agree with the odds that are already out. Puetz recently beat Kohlschreiber and Brown indoors and he also prefers such conditions and in his great serve has a strong weapon. It's true that after that he lost against none other than Bachinger in Stockholm's final round, but it was a tight match which was mostly determined by the first set which had gone into a tie-break. The same thing happened in Bachinger's and Puetz's previous two matches, and I'm convinced we'll see the same thing today.     There are a couple of reasons why I'm attracted by this under. First of all, Efes are this season a team who can win the game with their defense, not with the offense. They've shown that in the last round in an away game against the super-fast Sassari. Today, according to the previews, they'll be playing without Saric which means the lack of the offense creativity, less offense rebounds and less transitions. All goes in favor of this bet. The team will depend on Krsitc a lot, and he is up for a difficult task against Javtokas. Zalgiris is in top shape, and they're looking really good in the defense. They left Real in an away team at 80 points and that's because of Real's hurricane second half-time which you can't beat. Efes is offense-wise one step below Real and this is a match which will go up to 70 points tops on each side, and I see this as something worth of a stronger bet. Details

    Raonic's game is very predictive at the moment. He has motivation but lacks performance. Only one tie-break was played in his match with Sock, but all three sets should have ended in tie-breaks. Bautista clearly wasn't going full throttle in Valencia, as pointless as that might sound, but he was good in the match with Gasquet. We shouldn't expert a lot of opportunities on either side of the net. The good news is that draw decided they would play in the small arena. The stakes are high for Raonic in his battle for London and I expect his completely focus to serving in the first set. That makes the first set tie break a very likely outcome. I recommend any kind of over for the first set as well. Details

    Wawrinka still plays a tight game, and now he's up against a very uncomfortable opponent. Anderson is a much simpler player, while the Swiss knows how to complicate things, no matter how talented he is. With it, in the last two meetings he had a lot of trouble with the Southafrican's serve. On Indian Wells he missed 10 break-points. Anderson is also not being brilliant. He had trouble with Girald on the return and today it looks like it's going to be one big fight. The last two mutual meetings began with a tie-break, and in five matches not once did the first set have less than 10 games. I believe that today they will go over that limit primarily because I don't see a reason why he would be afraid of the return game. My recommendation is a match tie-break because I wouldn't be surprised if this match went into three sets. Both of them had a tie-break in the first math here, as was in the last three mutual meetings. Details

    I'm not prone to taking handicaps such as this one, but this is simply too good to pass. Scott Brooks took nine players to Portland, most of whom are useless on offense. Centers Adams and Perkins can hardly dunk, let alone do something in the post, while Robertson and Jones scored a combined average of 5.4 points last year, with Telfair earning his paycheck outside the NBA. One can also hardly expect Ibaka to both guard the best man on the other team (Aldridge) and score 20-25 points at the same tie. This brings us to Russell Westbrook who will have to make up for the points of Durant, Jackson and Morrow all by himself, which will certainly wear him out considerably, especially since this is the first game of the season, so the final moments will be a bit harder. I have no doubt he will fire off 30 or so shots, but I doubt he can beat the Blazers alone, as they're well tuned in, having only let go of two bench players. Taking it all into account, without the three players I mentioned earlier, one of whom is probably the best basketball player on the planet next to LeBron, Thunder have no chance in Portland. For the less brave a 'straight' win for the home team can serve as a decent addition to a combo ticket. Details
