Nenterre are way too underrated here. I said before that I don't expect Cholet to record great results this year. They will struggle against the greatest teams, with Nanterre definitely being among the best ones, and keen to get back to top French basketball. They destroyed Limoges and Chalon, with their bad offense performance against Paris as an exception. They play Nancy away on Friday. Getting there on a 1-2 record would be very bad, and despite this being only the begging of the season, they cannot afford to fall behind. The visitors are the better team, and besides, they managed to win all 4 head-to-head games with Cholet the last two seasons. I think they will dominate in rebound today and I definitely expect less turnovers since that is what destroyed them in the Paris game. They have so far managed to limit offenses of the top French teams, as the total number of points in their previous games suggest. They took advantage of Dijon's injuries problems in the season opener, but as the real tests came, Cholet lost chance of doing successfully. ASVEL beat them over the weekend easily despite having to do without their two key players. No one at Nanterre is injured and I expect their response following the poor performance in the city derby. I'm going with the points because like that, even two or three yellow cards with one red card should be enough. But, over at 3.5 yellow cards is the main deal, and whoever has the possibility to bet on this should (the odds offered are more or less the same).
These teams are direct rivals in a key match. Both have been aggressive in the qualifying matches, with Poland awarded 3 yellow cards in the Germany game, two in the Gibraltar game, and their opponent Scotland three yellow and a red card in the Germany game and two in the one-sided win over Georgia.
The referee appointed for this game is the Spaniard Malenco, who doesn't hesitate to book the players. He awarded less than 4 yellow card only once in his last nine games, while at the same time sending off 3 players. The points go as follows - each yellow card is 10 points, each red card 25. If the player is awarded two yellow cards (sent-off), that is 25 points in total. Details

I don't see the reason for the odds going up at Paris winning, but we will definitely try and take advantage of it. While Paris' coach Rougeyron prepared his team for this Supercup game, his colleague from Tours had incredible problems dealing with injuries. Smith injured his leg, while McDonnell struggles with a back injury, just like Hoag. Pinheiro injured his knee and none of them played the last week. Coach Paes said his team are nowhere near ready for this game, while CEO Foussard said that the goal is to have all the players fir and ready for the opening championship round. He could be just trying to trick the opponent, but the injuries his players have are very much real and at this point in the season affect their overall physical fitness. Gjorgiev, Bojic, and Bahov make an extremely powerful offense line capable of taking advantage of the opponents' defense shortcomings that only got more prominent as Smith and McDonnell got injured. I expected the odds at 1.9-2 at Paris here, and the odds at their win are around 2.3, which definitely has value. Details

Bregenz are folloing up from a strong EHF Cup match against Skjern from Denmark. The home team had just three days to prepare for this match and their leadership is rather worried for that reason. Why? Because the away team are Schwaz, a team they often struggle against and who eliminated them from the Cup last year. The guests from Tirol play quality defense and manage to neutralize the usually mighty Bregenz offense. Schwaz just won the most decisive victory so far this season, which left them highly motivated but also showed they can do better. Their defense is consistently good, but with Marković back their offense also improved by a class. As Bergenz managed to cover this handicap only against Linz, Barnbach and St. Polten (and by precisely six goal against those last two), all bottom HLA teams, I doubt they will load up the net of Schwaz, a much better team than the aforementioned ones, as their style is also much less favorable for the Vorarlberg team. A great derby that goes way back so not only points are at stake here. There is no doubt that emotions will be running high, which means defenses will be dominant in this match. Savehof's defense improved greatly compared to the start of the season, having conceded 23, 26, 25, and 25 goals in the last four matches. They face defense-specialist RIK today. Hammarby (30) and Malmo (28) scored more points than any other team against them, while no one else managed to score more than 25. Hammarby have been at a high pace the whole season, while Sivertsson decided that Malmo are to play faster pace game as well. Savehof have gone the other way around - they were trying to outrun the opponent early in the season, and now pay more attention to their defense performance. If we add the fact RIK are quite a slow team, more than 55 goals in such an emotion-charged game don't seem likely to be scored. Details

Brands has poor ranking due to mononucleosis and many missed tournaments, but he is back now, and Vienna is after all one of the tournaments he is most successful at. Over the last three years he only lost to Top 10 players and even they struggled to beat him, for instance he took a set against both Del Potro and Tsonga. He played through the qualifiers, so I believe he can surprise today. However, I decided to take the get set option, as Pospisil just returned from the Asian tour and will need time to adjust to indoor conditions. Details

The odds were at 1.07 for Samara's win, with the handicap set at -13.5, which turned out to be a mistake. As the time went by, the margin plummeted to the much more realistic -10.5. It still has value though (2-3 points). At the same time, the total points margin went up, which I don't understand. The only explanation for it are both teams' opening games that went at 180 points (consequence of their respective opponents' game). Nyburk's game is fast-pace, but their defense horrible. Minsk could not cope with Himki's offense (not many teams in the league can). What is more interesting to me than numbers is what Kudrjavcev said after the game. He was not happy with the team not sticking to what was planned (limiting the opponent to 70 points). That says a lot about what can expect from Minsk this season, and only goes to confirm their preseason performances. Their games were under 160 points in all of the eight games this season, going over this margin only against Zenit and Almaty. Defense is what they will build everything else around, since the offense doesn't have that much potential. They need more time together, just like Samara who changed the whole team in preseason and need a few weeks to fin rhythm. As for the preseason, their games were all well under the margin. Having lost a lot of offense potential over the summer, they turn to defense as well. Given the opening games, I think this margin is set way too high. Details

Jabeur left a much better impression indoors than Allertova, struggling only against Zanevska, who played a phenomenal match. More important than the score is the fact she was confident in the finish of the match, still playing her game even while faced with defeat. Just like at Linz, Jabeur is at 65-75% of her first serve here in Luxembourg, which gives her an edge over Allertova. Denisa was lucky in Luxembourg, as Cabeza-Candela should have beaten her but she managed to scrape by. Vankova was not much of a challenge while Karantantcheva basically beat herself being too nervous in the final period of the match and getting Allertova into the main draw through her unforced errors. We should also mention Allertova prefers clay and is just a bit under average indoors. In closing, Jabeur will certainly have the edge on her serve, and I believe she will get points in rallies more easily as she is much more consistent than Karatantcheva but also likes to step into the court and dictate the game. She is fresher and more confident, while also having less ups and downs during the match, making her victory a sure thing. Details
