It's becoming more obvious that Carmelo Anthony is playing his last games as the Knicks member whose main man, Phil Jackson, has been making moves the entire season which should provoke his first start to give up the "no trade" part of the agreement. That didn't happen in the last moments of the transfer period, it was mentioned that Melo could head to Clippers or Cavs, but it seems that Anthony is finally ready to leave New York which could be read from the following statement: "Honestly, I think about it a lot. I try to put everything into perspective. I think about (New York), I think postseason... It makes you want to think about what’s next or what could be next." Be that as it may, Anthony has been playing badly in the last few weeks; he doesn't look like a man who was paid to be a recording machine. A part of the reason is not getting along with the management (Jackson), a part lies in the system, and probably a part of it is bad shape and fatigue. In March Melo recorded: 17 (4-for-16), 18 (5-for-18), 15 (6-for-12), 16 (6-for-13), 13 (4-for-9), 27 (10-for-26), 22 (8-for-17), 17 (6-for-18) and 16 points (6-for-14). In those games he spent 39, 36 ,35 ,40, 36, 37, 41 and 25 minutes on the floor, and allegedly he'll spend less time in the rest of the season, which is logical considering that winning is no priority for Knicks. The Knicks have a road game today against one of the best defenses of the league, so it's realistic to expect small numbers, including Anthony's who recorded more than 20 points against the city rivals (27) and Pacers (22); he ended the number of points, rebounds and assists bigger than 28. This is a situational pick. Sijsling ended his season in August because of a finger injury, but he had issues with his shoulder as well. He also had a minor knee surgery. He said in December that he won't be playing the Australian Open qualifiers, that he's not ready yet. Then he showed up in fast indoors end February, in conditions that he likes. He beat Jahn, complained about the pain, and then retired in the next match. It's clear he's not ready, he's not healthy, but it's hard to wait and watch your standings go down. That's why he applied to Drummondville and two Mexican challengers. It was an attempt, and if it works, it works - that's what last week proved. He took five games from De Minauro who twisted his ankle in the fourth game of the match. The Dutch won only third of the second serve points, lost his serve three times, and lost the breaks. His serve is worth less outdoors, and I don't think he stands a chance today. His draw hasn't been favorable this week, either. Coppejans got eliminated from the top 100, and lost his rankings fast, but he's healthy and that's what matters. He beat Ram and Chung in Delray Beach, reminded us of what he can do, and then caught the rhythm with eight futures matches. He applied to that tournament afterwards (USA hardcourts), and then played the qualifiers. Even though I think Belgian can be tricky, as his results would suggest, and the things he could've made and didn't, he should easily take advantage of Sijsling's problems here. The Dutch is healthy and he had far weaker results in the open hardcourts then indoors in the last years. Details

Brazil are far ahead of everyone, Argentina might match them (even though Brazil beat them by 10 and 16 previously), the rest of them stand no chance. Chile came here with a mix of juniors and cadets, and the game yesterday showed they're weaker than two years ago when they lost to Brazil 37-18. USA outplayed them completely, and they would've lost by 10-15 if Chile didn't start playing wild defense at one point. When the Americans finally adapted to it, they started increasing their lead again, winning 31-24 in the end.
That kind of thing won't do against Brazil. They're much better technically, and are playing aggressive defense, stealing a lot and crushing opponents like these. That's why they beat USA by 28.
Brazil crushed Ecuador, Venezuela, Columbia two years ago, even worse than Chile.
For Chile, this is a second game in two days. They can't get the second place, they're going to the quarterfinal, and it makes sense that the leading players will be spared for that. Their bench is pretty weak, with lots of cadets. That quarterfinal game will be the most important in their minds, so they won't care what the difference is here, 30 or 40. Brazil will get placed to the semis directly, they're free tomorrow, and they proved already that rotations don't influence their game or results in competition like this. I see this ending with the difference of 25-30 or even more. Details

Coburg recently lost at home to Lemgo, and that was the same Lemgo Goppingen beat at home last round. If you ask me, the 1.55 at Goppingen is definitely worth taking, they're underestimated a bit too much.
Their away games look terrible, but this Goppingen are a lot better than in the first part of the season, with two away wins they have against Minden and Stuttgart, the only fail against Lemgo in which they were leading. The other away defeats are against Magdeburg, Fuchse, Flensburg, Lown, Kiel, Melsungen, Hannover, Leipzig, so nothing unexpected.
Coburg at home beat Balingen and Bergischer, and the derby against Erlangen. The first head-to-head was +4 for Goppingen with -2 at half-time and without Kenuel.
The handicap is at 1.5 from nine wins in the league, Goppingen won eight over that, only one goal of difference was at home against Leipzig. Coburg lost 18 games, out of which 17 with over one goal of difference.
If we take a look at Goppingen's matches against five teams who are in the relegation zone: Coburg, Bergischer, Stuttgart, Lemgo and Balingen, then we see the reason to take it: -6 wins, one draw and the defeat in Lemgo with one point of difference. Out of that, away games: Minden 32-25 and Stuttgart 35-29. Details

The first quarterfinal series game between Novosibirsk and UMMC Ekaterinburg. The game is best out of three. Novosibirsk ended the regular part of the Russian championship with a 8-12 score, and that's about their last year's level. The team is similar to what they were last year, two foreigners plus a lot of young Russians aged between 21 and 23. In the last 12 rounds, Novosibirsk got only two wins. UMMC Ekaterinburg have been in top notch form lately. The coach Olaf Lange isn't sparing his best players anymore. He can use five foreigners in the Russian championship, so he mostly spared his best players: Taurasi, Griner and Toliver. He used his best lineup in the last round and beat Nadežda 89-57, and Nadežda are one of the best defensive teams in Euroleague. UMMC mostly played Euroleague with their full lineup, and didn't go under 88 points in the last seven rounds (except Nadežda). Besides that convincing win, they crushed Famila twice in the Euroleague (by 45 and 35 points). UMMC also played Novosibirsk in the last year's Russian championship quarterfinal, and won 99-39 on the road, and 108-48 at home. This season, they won 74-56 (25-38), but Griner, Taurasi and Toliver were out then. Those three didn't play at home either, when they won 84-56 (46-23), and when they were focused on the Euroleague. Even though there's no official confirmation that UMMC will use their best lineup today, considering the coach Lange's practice in the playoff and the fact they've got no other obligations right now (Euroleague Final Four is mid April), I expect them to go full throttle today.
Novosibirsk lost the game against the second to last placed Kazanochka in the last round, and it's not like they didn't need the win because it could've helped them skip MBA Moscow, get the sixth place and avoid UMMC now. They lost 61-99 at home to Nadežda (25-42), and 57-84 (30-45) to Kursk. They lost 51-95 on the road against Kurks (25-48) and 56-73 to Nadežda (23-44). The club published yesterday that they ended their contract with the wing center Williams (because of an injury), one of two foreigners, and the second best scorer of the team with 14.8 points, and the best rebound player with 9.1 rebounds in 32 minutes on the floor per game. She was their best scorer in their last duel against Kazanochka, with 15 points and seven rebounds.
There's a huge difference in quality here, and Novosibirsk are even more weakened now, so I doubt they can resist. I think all the picks here are good, both the total handicap and the first half handicap, and the guest team over. Details

D'Angelo Russell didn't react well to the system Luke Walton implemented, to say the least, but it seems he'll have a good end to the season. He was brought back to the starting five in the last game, but not as a point guard, rather as a go-to scorer. He reacted phenomenally. In 41 minutes on the floor, he hit 40 points (14/22) with six assists, against the depending champions. The coach Walton said he plans on keeping him in that role. Also, Walton said that he wants Russell to keep shooting even when they don't go in, and I think a realistic scenario of what might happen tonight is that he could take 17-20 shots, and that should be quite enough to go over this margin, even with humble percentages. Argentina scoring 44 goals yesterday (20-6 half-time) is no measure because the Dominican Republic are weak technically, which meant a lot of easy counter attack goals. Argentina are definitely not great offensively, but they proved they can play great defense. They had 7-15 against France, 8-14 against Slovenia in the first half at the WC in Russia, and those teams are the best in the generation. The games against opponents of similar quality were mostly evened out in the first half, both in the WC and the cadet championship two years ago. While getting ready for this tournament, Argentina won the tournament at home, and they dominated with their defense, 19-11 against Paraguay stands out. Besides, Paraguay beat USA 24-22, and USA are a afster team, with a much more hollow defense, and still, Paraguay didn't do so much there. Their only over was against Venezuela, 16-11, in the IHF Trophy last season. And nobody scored over 12 in the first half, which is relevant here because they won't do it against the Argentinian defense. They had 12-9 against Uruguay, allowing only 16 goals in the first 52 minutes. This is a duel for the first place, and getting through directly to the semifinal, so I expect the first half of the game to be quite tough. Details

Spirou have not been consistent this season, and they are again going through a bad period that culminated on Saturday with a home defeat to second-to-last Leuven. After that game they agreed with coach Bastianini to mutually terminate his contract, and his assistant, Pascal Angillis, is now their head coach. We can expect a reaction from them today, they are on a five game losing run, they dropped to 7th position, Mons is threatening them, and the 8th placed team will face Oostende in the play-off. They had a bad period at the start of the season as well, when they managed to defeat the best team in Belgium, that is Oostende. Their clashes are always special, it's Belgian Classico, the biggest derby, or as they like to call it, a clash of two Belgiums. Forma often does not play a role here. Spirou won their first head-to-head this season 74-69, lost at Ostende 58-86, so they were under 150 in both games.
There are only a few teams in the Belgian championship who can compare to Oostende defensively, Mons and partially Brussels. Spirou played games at 134 and 141 points against Mons this season, against Brussels at 154 at home, at the start of the season 174 away, and 129 recently. Oostende fared against Mons in the championship as follows: 145, 130 and 148. Oostende are at an average of 147.6 away, 8-3 in favor of the under at today's margin, no one has such a good defense in the championship. They recently played at 135 at Limburg, at 143 against Antwerp, 153 at Okapi, at 150 at Brussels. Spirou are at an average of 158 at home, 6-6 in over and under on today's margin, but they were under against stronger teams at home, I don't expect them neat their average at home games in this game. Kristianstad finally have the chance to get the first place today, and they won't give up on anything. They're hosting the weak Hammarby. Kristianstad easily beat weak teams like those when they were the host. IFK Ystads twice, by 10 and 17. Kalskrona, who are the most similar to Hammarby with their game style and quality were beaten by 15, and Aranas as well. They also crushed Malmo and Redbergslids.
Talking about Hammary, they're pretty weak when playing away. Their results are pretty barren - they lost to Guif by 8, to Redbergslids by 11, Alingsas by 7, Savehof by 8, Malmo by 10, Guif by 4 and Lugi by 6. Also, Kristianstad had one day more to rest. The guests are certainly not used to playing two big games in a short while, so we believe that as the game comes to an end, Kristianstad's advantage will grow. These two teams played each other in Stockholm two weeks ago, and Kristianstad won 21-29. Things should end in a similar fashion today. Details

Even before the tournament began, it was obvious that Macedonia and Faroe Islands will be playing each other to decide who goes to the EC. That is now true, both were crushed by Hungary, beat the weak Moldavia, and those matches have nothing to do with this one.
Macedonia didn't play many games with this team, only the EC two years ago where they were the host and still lost everything. In seven games, they didn't score over 23 - 23 and 22 against Czech, 17 Slovakia, and the last two were for the placement. While getting ready for this tournament, they only had 16 against Montenegro.
Faroe Islands allowed 24 to Iceland and 25 to Czech in the home qualifier games two years ago, and those two teams are better than this Hungary, they even kept Russia at 23. They had a similar roster at the European Open last year, and left a decent impression - Czech at 11 goals in 40 minutes, Austria at 16 and Iceland at 17 in games of 50 minutes. This game means so much to both team so I expect them to fight for it from the start, and the defenses to dominate. I think the Faroeans are underestimated here. Macedonia under 25.5 is the best pick here. Details

ABA league is priority for Zvezda, they knew that since the season began, and the coach Dejan Radonjić clearly said so when announcing the game. No way they're going to relax, they've got to win this to secure the Euroleague, and they won't even think about the quarterfinal. Zvezda are the best team defensively, with Lazić, Jović and Jenkins pressuring Williams, and without him, Budućnost are in trouble, as was obvious in the last game. Williams played the first half very well, was out in the second, and Budućnost hit only 21 points in the second 20 minutes. Zvezda covered this handicap in both their duels this season, and they covered this in home games against much stronger teams in the Euroleague, like Cedevita. Budućnost didn't do well against strong defensive teams, Unicaja, Bayern in Eurocup, and I think things are working on Zvezda's side here, and they will cover the handicap. Details

This season Canarias are the biggest surprise of the ACB League and the Champions League. They're playing outside of all expectations, and primarily that's thanks to their defense. In Spain they allow only 71 points per games, and in the Champions League they're better with 66 allowed points per game. Their offense doesn't even have to be great, so in one competition they don't even have 80 points on average. These numbers are even more impressive in important games. Against Real it was 139 and 145 points, Gran Canaria 130, Barcelona 131, Baskonia 145, just like Unicaja. The only game against the strong opponents which went for over was at the opening of the season in an away game against Gran Canaria with 170 points. Against today's opponents, Valencia, in the first leg it was 132 points. Valencia aren't as perfect when this numbers are questioned, but they're the second best defense in Spain (75 allowed points per game), and the second best defense of Eurocup (74 allowed points per game). They accepted the fast tempo against the bet teams (Real 156 points, Barca 176, Unicaja 174), but at the time their roster was complete and they could keep the pace for 40 minutes. Today they're without their first two plays and back-up centers and Martinez won't ask them to rush. Besides, they're arriving here after two difficult games against Hapoelo, and surely they don't need something run and gun. Moreover because today Van Rosso and Martinez are the plays, which guarantees organized and well set game. Since they got into injury struggles the games with Hapoelo were at 145 and 151 points, and with Baskonia at 134 points. Crushing of Fuenlabrada and Khimki at home won't be mentioned here because they're teams who rush without thinking, and Valencia pulverized them. They won't do that today against the best defense of the league, and that's why I'm convinced this will remain at the low 70 points on both sides. What favors the bet is the fact that this is the fight for the first place and surely no one will relax and save themselves for the upcoming Euro games. Details

BSK and Fyllingen are two teams of similar style, and that's clearly seen in their statistics. Here we're talking about two best offenses of the league. BSK on average record 30.8, Fyllingen 30.1, and when we mention defense, Fyllingen are a bit weaker with 27.1 allowed goals compared to BSK's 26.8. The statistic of the goal sum is: BSK at 57.5, Fyllingent at 57.1. So, it's clear how both teams play. The tempo is fast-paces, especially with BSK, while Fyllingen compensate that by playing with seven players, which brings results against most of the opponents. The first head-to-head was at 56, 29 was by half-time, even though Fyllingen recorded a single goal in the first five minutes. We have to mention that BSK had a black hole in the last 10 minutes, so that influenced the final total goal number, otherwise it would be closer to 60. Today we again have the 55 goals margin, but if BSK and Fyllingen play the way they know how, it's definitely going to be an over. As for the games against similar opponents, the fact is that there isn't many. Maybe we could take Haslum into consideration with whom BSK went to 60 and 61, and Fyllingen 65 and 65, and then there's OIF against whom both teams went well over the margin. Details

Barcelona are currently with no confidence, and when they play a top game, Llull happens at the last second. The lack of confidence is seen in the offense. Rice is out of everything, defensively they're showing good things, but I think they can lay confidence in that. Here we'll go for a half-time under at 77.5.
They played two head-to-heads so far, the league one at 70 points (Joventut 39-31), the Catalonian league finals, which is an introduction to the start of the season, 59 points (Barca 36-23).
In the last 11 league games Barca have four overs and seven unders. The overs are explainable: beating Zs by Zaragoza, Manresa and Obradorio 51-34, 55-41, 55-40 and the away game against Real. So, nothing is a minus for today's pick, these three teams are in the relegation zone.
In Euroleague in the last 12 games they have 10 unders, the overs were Milano and the home falling apart against Basconia. Again, nothing important for today. Under Diego Ocampo, Joventut have improved in the defense. And the numerous head-to-heads from previous seasons were at small numbers.
Joventut stood up to Unicaja, Valencia, they played at home against Real, so the assumption is that they won't fall apart here, which suggests the rise of quota for Barca. Joventut have been in a half-time under in the last five home league games (Estudiantes 75, Murcia 62, Andorra 70, Real 75, Zaragoza 76). Out of the last 11 in the league they have two overs, the away games against Fuenlabrada and Gran Canaria, totally unimportant for today. The last week it was 67 against Unicaja.
And for the end, as a little plus, I'll add that Bartzokas left Faverani out of the team, which is a plus for the defense becaue with him in the game, the defense never made it (the second quarter against Dacka a few days ago 9-32, the remaining three at 24, 30 and 28 points). Details

By being defeated yesterday by Switzerland, Belarus lost all chances to pass, while Portugal depend on themselves, and they need to win with XX points of difference in order to earn the first place and EC.
Recently Switzerland won with 18 points of difference and now they're at +26. Portugal beat Georgia with 19 and here they need eight goals of difference (seven if they record 36).
Belarus are physically weak, they played for 35 minutes as equals against Georgia, yesterday they convincingly lost to Switzerland, and despite being equal to Switzerland in the first round, if you ask me, Portugal are a bit stronger than Switzerland. They had 25-20 in the first head-to-head, and then they stayed without goals in the last 10 minutes. Here they'll fight from the first second, defensively they're solid and they will surely press Belarus without mercy. Details

If this was the start of the tournament, the handicap would probably be 6-7 for the Swedes. Now, it's -1.5 because Serbia beat the Czech by 10 and Austria by two. But comparing them to the Swedes and coming up with +1.5 isn't realistic.
Sweden beat the Czech by six in the first game, leaving them at 13 goals. Then they were a bit more relaxed against Austria (the coach said so), seeing that the Austrlians lost to Serbia. Sweden were up by five, but missed a lot of safe hits and the game was evened out. The Austrians started biting and it was decided with a single hit. The Swedish coach said that they're going to try and beat Serbia here and I can't agree with the odds being evened out. The Swedes played the World championship quarterfinal last year, and then beat Croatia by 5 in the playoff. Serbia lost the prep games to Croatia in January, 21-17 and 27-12. Serbia didn't play any big competitions, and Sweden won the European Open before the WC last year, by beating Netherlands and Denmark in the semifinal and final, so those that are in the top of the sport (Russia and Spain in the second round).
A year before that, Serbia lost 39-14 to Denmark in the qualifiers... Details

Trento will definitely want to make amends for the defeat to Torino. They played a very bad first half on the defensive end but again allowed a small number of points in the second half. Trento's last results are impressive when it comes to points allowed. Brindisi hit 48 against them, Cremona 59 Venezia 57, Capo 63, Reggiana (one of the most efficient teams) 75, Caserta 66 and fast-paced Torino 76 home. Those were the games from the second half of the season. Only Reggiana and Trento went over this margin until half time. The first h2h finished at 73-73 and Pistoia hit 32 until half time.

Looking at Pistoia's results away, we see that they have problems on the offensive end. We'll ignore the fastest paced teams Brindisi, Brescia and Milano. The only bigger problem is Sassari, where they hit 75, 30 in the second quarter. They went over by half time only against Avelino away in the entire season but got limited to 67 in total and against Venezia 37 (62 in total). I think I'll go with the entire game here because I have more wiggle room, even though it's not typical. Trento are capable of doing well in defense and in the second half, limiting opponents to under 15 in one quarter. The total team under at Pistoia is a better option. The offensive problems Pistoia have away are obvious and so is the good Trento's defense. I think we need to take advantage of that. Details
