Florida had a very bad start of the season

The home team is one of the worst in the league, having lost three games in a row, and they are struggling with absences too. The tough Minnesota are a favorite

The Florida team continue with their losing streak. They put up a good fight but Boston is simply a far better and rounded up team, and few can object to a 3-2 loss. This was a tough match for the Panthers' goalie Tim Thomas, as this was the first time he had to play against his former team. All things considered, he demonstrated he would still be of use to them, saving 37 shots in the game and proving he is still not retirement material. After losing 0-2 at the end of the first period, the Panthers got back in the game and held 2-2 up to just a minute remaining, when they conceded a goal for another lost game.

-I, of course, tried to approach it just like any other game. Having said that, it was a big game for me coming back after a while and then obviously facing your former team and a lot to-do around it. I was a little bit nervous today, but not too bad. I just tried to approach like any other game- commented veteran Tim Thomas on his great performance.

He had been away for the last few games due to a minor injury, but he is back again, defending his team's goal in the best possible manner. Considering his age, the team can expect frequent absences from Thomas, as minor injuries are a common thing with players his age.

Looking at their last games, one could say that Florida have improved relative to before, but the Bruins are not a team they could have presented that properly against. The tough Minnesota team they're up against this evening are no easier opponent. The record of prior matches suggests that three of their last four games did not end in regular time, so we will be seeing another close battle for points.

Coach Dinnen still cannot count on his team captain and best back of the team, Jovanovski. With offense players Pinizzoto and Bergenheim absent too, they are definitely weakened.

After three wins in a row, Minnesota are back in a negative series. They are doing the same thing they did last season, nothing has changed. This talented and very strong team filled with good names simply play the way they feel like.

Prior to these two defeats they played great, and then ground to a halt vs Toronto, who defeated them decisively. However vs Tampa they held their ground well in the last game. It was a match that could have gone either way in the last five minutes, but then they conceded a goal, and the last one was into an unguarded net, bear in mind. It was an even game in which Minnesota had their chances too, only failed to use them.

The penalties certainly played a part in the defeat, as they had as many as eight, seven of which they defended against, which is a great thing vs a team as strong as Tampa, and in an away game to boot. They did not play a bad game on the defense, generally speaking, but they failed to score their chances on the offense. Their powerplay is at a super high 27%, one of their main weapons this season, and should be in this game as well, where they are up against a weaker opponents by all accounts.

-We have to find a way to generate a little more. You can't win many games when you score one goal- said Minnesota forward Jason Pominville.

As usual, Minnesota cannot count on Rupp and Coyle, while defender Ballard is out of commission now as well. Even without them, they are the stronger team than their opponent today, but that remains to be proven on ice.

The offensive capabilities of the team from Florida are overestimated here. They have only gone over this margin twice this season, but with teams that came with an open game plan. Minnesota are not that type of team. They are compact and tough on defense, which is the best part of their team. However, I do not have too much faith in their offense, and that's why I'm not going to pick them to win. Florida are one of the weakest teams in the league, they have a poor offense, which will be even poorer tonight because two important forwards won't play. They will also have to do without team captain Jovanovski. Anyway, Minnesota have a very tough defense and they certainly won't come to Florida with a gung-ho approach. In spite of their loss in their last game against Tampa, they played amazingly well on defense. Florida, due to all their injury problems and their lack of goals, will have a hard time scoring more than two goals against a tough Minnesota side.
