Bergischer and Balingen are playing a very important game today. The away team are second-to-last in the league with only two points. Bergischer have only two points more than them and this is a clash in the relegation battle, which the home team's coach Hinze characterized 'like the Kiel and Lowen game in the title battle'. The result was 22-18 here last year, and 25-24 in Balingen. Since then the teams remained rather the same, except Bergischer are stronger for excellent defender Jonovski, and weaker for their top right back Nippes, and today also for their best player of the season so far, left back Hermann. Szilagy came back a few rounds ago, but he hasn't gone through pre-season and he is far from top form. Bergischer are heavily oriented on defense at home, of the eight games played so far, they were under in six of them, even against Eisensach who have the worst defense in the league, and they defeated them 30-22. Their last two games were more efficient, but at home against Lubbecke (whose defense is the worst in the league, with Eisensach's) and at Kiel where the game fell apart and I won't take it into consideration. Those that followed Bundesliga know how Bergishcer looked in away games last season, and that it was a much different than at home. Because of Nippes' injury and Szilagy's late start, they are not as good offensively as they were last year. They haven't scored over 30 against anyone, they were at 30 only against Lubbecke and Eisensach. Balingen are a big disappointment of this season, they are having problems with the goalkeepers, and they acquired a new one who will have his debut today. They are not as bad as the results suggest, and I am convinced they can compete in combativeness at least. Vasilakis' absence is a bonus for this bet because he is a veteran with weak defensive abilities, who often needs offense-defense rotations. A minus for this bet are Ilitsch and Konig's injuries, but not crucial for the type of game I am expecting. Both teams have difficult matches ahead of them after this one (Bergischer has away games at Wetzlar, Melsungen and Leipzing, Hamburg and Fuchse at home; Balingen away at Wetzlar and Hamburg, Lowen and Melsungen at home), and considering the situation on the league table, I have no doubt they will fight maximally in the field.
