Spartak Moscow - Rubin Kazan (1:0)

Both teams scored their first win in last match

  • Published:

Spartak won in a hard away match against Krasnodar, while Rubin did a great job and beat Sturm in Austria with 3-2

Right at the very start Spartak spilled two points against Ufa. They were undoubtedly better, but the offense didn't work, while the defense wasn't on their right level and it ended with 2-2. It wasn't the best introduction for the strong first match against Krasnodar who have lately been beating them with ease. Still, Spartak managed to win in that hard away match, and now they hope to reach their first home win this season.

- I remember Rubin from last season. They're a very stable team and it's not easy to play against them. When we played the last match I scored a goal in the last minute for 1-0, and surely they didn't forget it and will try to take revenge for it - said Spartak's Quincy Promes and added:

- Of course I will try to score again, but that won't be easy. Rubin are very tough in the defense; last time we also managed to score after 90 minutes.

The home team will only be missing defender Evgei Makeev.

In the match of the first round against CSKA Rubin didn't show a thing. In the derby against Amkar, though, they played a tiny bit better. That was still under Rubins level. Ankar managed to me equals with them as an awa team, and then took the lead after Kvirkvelija's own goal who later also got a red booking, and the match was done with that.

During the middle of the last week Rubin finally managed to turn around, and in the Europa League qualifications they managed to score an important win in an away match against Sturm with 3-2.

- Beating Sturm meant a lot for us after losing both games at the championship's opening. That win will surely lift our spirits, but we shouldn't forget that on Monday we're up against Spartak and that we have to prepare for that match - said midfielder Blago Georgiev.

He won't be playing in this match, and next to him on the list of absences are midflieder Wakso and the suspended stopper Kvirkvelia.

Rubin haven't won in Moscow for a long time, five years. Spartak won three times, and the other two were a draw.
