I am trying to understand why the odds on Czech Republic are growing and I can't find a single reason for that. The Czechs had a pretty 'colorful' squad last year and they won three out of four games against Korea, a team that plays similarly as Japan. They also played three games against Japan, won two of them, but the Japanese team then and this one have nothing in common, just like the Czech team. With the return of Stokr and Konecny, and with Baranek, Holubec and Veseli, this Czech team can fight for the top spot in the group. The Japanese have 13 new players in their World League roster, and for the game in Okayama, selector Nambu invited only three players who played over 45 games for the national team (Shimizu, Nagano, Suzuki), while the rest of the players have 20 or less appearances for Japan. The home court never played much of a role with the Japanese, they lost all home games last year, even though Germany and Argentina played with 'mixed' lineups. Without Fukuzawa and Koshikawa this Japan is weaker by at least 30-35%, they are physically no match for the Czech team and I expect the Europeans to win either the easy way or the harder way. The handicap on points seems too low for me, the margin was the same last year when they played against Korea, who is stronger than this Japan, and Czech Republic was weaker then.
