The Rockets missed out on the first match-point, but...

...there are three still left, two of which at Toyota Center where the Mavs lost 4 straight games. They have not recorded a playoff win in Houston since 2005

Even though it seems like the Rockets are in total control of this series, it has still offered some drama that makes the playoffs so interesting. Kevin McHale boys won the first three games, taking advantage of all the injury-struggles at Dallas. But the Mavs did well Sunday to win 121-109 and postpone the knock out by at least few days.

- We are very angry about how we lost the last game. That is not how you become the champions. Everything starts with James and me. We need to lead the team better from start to finish - Howards said after finishing the first quarter with 10 points and going on to add only 3 more, while missing 10 out of 13 free throws. 

The Mavs have finally had their best starting five to send out on the floor. None of the starters spent less than 29 minutes in the game. They have spend a total of 20 minutes together on the floor, which turned out very important in the end. The Rockets have, however, opened the match better thanks to Howard who definitely had too much room, but mid-second quarter the Mavs switched to zone defense that allowed them to catch up. In the second half, they closed the paint completely to take control of the game. Coach Carlisle put tall players in the paint which resulted in a win.

- We need to be better on both ends of the floor. Credit to them, they did a great job pressuring the ball, but overall we need to be better at doing what we're supposed to do - Harden said after finishing with 24 points (7-for-15), 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. 

Tyson Chandler did a great job staying close to Howard instead of trying to stop him in the paint. The Mavs also cut off Harden thanks to Amin, whose height was a great problem for the top player at the Rockets. Houston-based team had horrible 2-for-21 three point record in the first three quarters. Thanks to the inspired Smith (23 points, 6 rebounds) who scored 4 three pointers in the final quarter, the final stats are slightly better (7-for-31). It is still very clear that the Rockets didn't have a response for Dallas's aggressive game. 

- We'll fight and won't give up. We are going to Houston to get the series back to Dallas - Barea said after recording 17 points (7-for-15) and 13 assists in his first playoff start after the 2011 in which they clinched the title.

- He's always the one to give his best. He loves playoffs and often proves that on the floor. He just likes playing the big games - coach Carlisle said.

His team were better at rebounding ( 52-38) and had a total of 18 offensive rebounds, which is most they had since February 7. Also, the Mavs had 6 players with double-digit points - Monta Ellis recorded team-high 31, while Aminu and Nowitzki added 16 each. 

- They fought more than us. Rebounding killed us, they went for transition and attacked us. We weren't tough enough in defense. That was the key. They were just more desperate to win than us - McHale said.

Not counting in Game 3, which he finished with 5 three pointers in 7 attempts, Harden is at bad 3-for-16 record overall. Ariza is not much better since he scored only 4 out of 15 attempts. The two of them had 555 three pointers in regular season, which got them in spot three in the league. The Rockets were averaging 32.7 three pointers as a team, which is the highest number in the league. They allegedly don't plan to change that even though three pointers aren't their strong suit at this point. 

- We shoot 3s. That's what we do - Harden said. He's averaging 28.5 points and 7.8 assists in this series.

Houston don't have too much reason for concern since it's not very likely that the Mavs are capable of becoming the first team in the league to make a comeback after 0-3 but they would most definitely like to finish this as soon as possible in order to get more time for preparation of the next round in which they will meet either the Clippers or the Spurs.
