The Nets believe they can surprise today

The visitors base their optimism on the fact they dominated the key in the first game and the fact Millsap and Horford haven't entirely recovered from injuries

Since they secured the top spot in East Conference 10 games before the end of regular season, it seemed like Atlanta were set to sail into the playoffs injury-free and well-prepared. However, they opened the series against the Nets on a three-game losing run, while Millsap surprisingly still struggled with a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the last 5 regular season games. 

Still, since they won 4 head-to-head games against the Nets this season by an average of 17 points, everyone at the Hawks expected a new win, which they managed to reach in the end, even though the Nets proved they can be a threat as well. In spite of the fact they were ahead for basically the entire game (sometimes by as high as 16 points), the Hawks had to put a lot of effort in order to record the win in the end since the Nets managed to get only 4 points short int he last two minutes.

- Beating anyone convincingly will be tough. This is the playoffs and all teams are doing their absolute best - Millsap said. The shoulder injury clearly left trace on him since he finished the game with only 6 points (2-for-11) and 7 rebounds.

The fact they had 43% percent shooting despite losing the rebounding battle 47-39, proves Atlanta didn't do their best. They won mostly because of the brilliant Korver, who finished the match at 21 point (6-for-12), with 7 rebounds. Teague (6-for-12) and Carroll (5-for-12) recorded 17 points each.

The newly elected coach of the year Budenholzer has to deal with Millsap's injury and on top of that, Horford got injured in the Nets game as well. It was a finger injury, in spite of which Horford kept on playing, even through it was clear he was bothered by it. MRA didn't reveal any great damage and Horford said he plans on playing tonight. The questions is, how good can Millsap and him do with their respective injuries.

- Injuries are always a reason for concern, but I hope it's nothing serious - Korver said, while Horford added

- I will play tomorrow. I did a practice session and I feel good.

The fact Horford will play was not good news for the Nets' coach Hollins, whose team would have it a bit easier if Al was out. The Brooklyn-based team is optimistic regardless as they put up a good fight in the first game despite falling apart completely in one point of the game.

- If my players didn't believe they can win this series, they can start now - coach Hollins said after Game 1. 

The Nets finished with 45.6% shooting, lead by Johnson with 17 points (6-for-17) and Lopez (6-for-7), while Young added 15 points and 10 rebounds. 

- It will be a tough series. We lost only one game but we need to leave that behind - Johnson said.

Since they put up a good fight in the first game, the Nets believe they stand a good chance of beating the Hawks for the first time this season. Keeping the key dominance will be crucial. That dominance manifested itself not only through rebounding but through points from the key as well (54-42). However, the Nets will need to be much more efficient from the perimeter since they finished with 5 three pointers in 20 attempts in the first game. Teletovic might help in that segment after making a very fast recovery. There's a chance he will spend a few minutes on the floor today if necessary.
