Only a win would do for Laboral

Not even a win would guarantee them a spot in quarterfinals. They still have to wait for Efes' slip today. Unicaja stand no chance of advancing but they are not letting go against anyone in home games

There are only a few questions left to be answered ahead of Euroleague final round, one of which is regarding Laboral. The home team stand no chance of advancing through to quarterfinals but Laboral need to win in order to see if Efes will lose and potentially reach playoffs. Unicaja seemingly don't need a win but their coach Plaza is probably the last person in the world that would deliberately lose a game, especially not to a rival from the Spanish championship:

- I'll start with the respect I have for Laboral, but I also want to see my team improve, which includes winning the games. We know they need this win, but we played close games with Oly and Maccabi here, beat Real, and lost to Barcelona closely. That means we never give up and we'll do everything to make this game difficult for them.

Unicaja have not lost a single ACB League home game and they definitely won't make it easy for Laboral today. Unicaja won both ACB League head-to-head games of this season, especially on account of better rebounding. The same happened in the last Euroleague round when they crushed Nizhny despite not having any motivation for the win.

Plaza therefore clearly decided to use the remaining matches for making improvements on his team. It means he's using all 12 players equally, which in turn resulted in a massive rise in defensive intensity that was already high to begin with. 

Defense is something Laboral were pushing this whole time but they clearly forgot what defense means last weekend. They got crushed in the Canary Islands by 35 points, which is not something that should be happening to an Euroleague team.

It's like that every time these teams meet since both build their game around running and offensive rebounding. Besides, Euroleague official website announced this game as the clash between two top teams when it comes to offensive rebounding. 

Who ever ends up being better in the paint will have the upper hand since both teams have great transition, love to win and build everything around rebound control, and opponents' turnovers as well. Even though this game is important for only one team result-wise, I do not recommend writing Plaza and his team off. They are very tough to beat home.
