Demark hungry for wins, the Americans experimenting too much

Denmark have no qualifying games in March, but have enough motivation to make up for some poor performances from the past, while the Americans had nothing but test games since World Cup, in which Klinsmann tried 55 players out, which resulted in some poor results

Denmark have no EURO qualifying matches in March, which is why coach Olsen decided his team will play too tough opponents in test games. Denmark are hosing the US in Aarhus today, while they meet the US in Saint Etiennen next Sunday.

Denmark are sitting top table in their qualifying group (played one game more than the competition) and have great chance of qualifying, despite the defeat to Portugal. Because of a few injuries, coach Olsen invited new players Sviatchenko and Zanka, while their top stars remain midfielder Eriksen and forward Bendtner. 

Tottenham's Eriksen is set to play his 50th game for Denmark despite being only 24. No one has ever done that before.

- 50 games for the national team at the age of 24 is impressive but we are looking forward to Eriksen being our leader in the next 50 - coach Olsen said. He will have to do without defenders Okore, Agger, and Bjelland, which means Sviatchenko from Midtjylland will probably start at the center back position alongside Schmiechel (Leicester), who just recovered from an injury. 

- Schmeichel played only one game since his comeback but Andersen didn't concede a single goal in 11 games for FC Kopenhagen. He is a very reliable goal keeper, which is important because the States play an open game and aren't afraid to attack - Olsen said. Following the defeat in the qualifier against Portugal and the one in a friendly match with Romania, Olsen would definitely want his team to do well today. 

- We always want to win home because it's important to make progress in our game and gain confidence since we have a lot of tough qualifying games to play - the Danish coach Olsen said. He's been combining two different formations lately (4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3). When it comes to important starters, he has to do without Hojbjerg, while Jacobsen and Poulsen had problems with a cold and might not play. But, they are substitutes anyway.

Even since the World Cup in Brazil, the US national team has done nothing but test games. That will go on since July and the Gold Cup. That means coach Kilnsmann had and will have a chance for different experiments regarding players and tactics. Half of the usual candidates are not on the lost for the Denmark and Switzerland games this March (goal keeper Guzan, defenders Besler, Cameron, and Gonzales, midifoder Diskerud, and forwards Wondolowski and the well-experienced Donovan).

Klinsmann wants to give a shot to young players and start on building the team for the 2018 WC. The more experienced players like Dempse, Bradley, and Altidore are still the key players. Interestingly, 55 players in total have been on the team, and 23 are on the list for this match.

Defender Alvarado and goal keeper Yarbrough are to have their debuts for the national team today. The Americans often go for a too risky, offense-oriented game and that could happen tonight in Aarhus again as the result is not too important in these kind of games. Their results in the last nine month are like that - a lot of goals and a lot of ups and downs in every aspect of the game. 

- Our roster is made up of different groups of players right now. We have the more experienced players, the ones from the U-23 Olympic squad, to those from U-20 team. I think we have a lot of options and that we grow as a team. Everything is about building the team for the Gold Cup which we want to win - Klinsmann said. He's faced with quite a lot of criticism that are mostly caused by the chaos that are his lineups, which normally results in poor performances with a lot of stupid mistakes and lack of organization on the pitch.

- We have 5 games to do before the Gold Cup. We're playing the Netherlands and Germany in June. We have enough time to build a good team and I'm not concerned by some poor results. I expect progress against Denmark - Klinsmann said. He will most likely go with the 4-2-3-1 formation.

This is the 4th head-to-head meeting of these two teams. Denmark won the one in 2009 3-1, the US won 3-1 in 2007 and they played a 1-1 draw in January of 2004.

Denmark have no official games in March, while the Americans play nothing but test games since the World Cup, trying to find the ideal lineup for the Gold Cup in July. Even though the bookies disagree, logic suggests that this is not a game in which either team have a reason to hold back or play defense-oriented game. On the contrary, both teams should go fierce from the start to try and boost their productivity. The home team are without a few defenders, while the Americans struggle with everything because of the constant reshuffling of he lineup and new players. But they mostly attack all the time, sometimes even when it's not necessary, which results in a lot of goals in their games.
If that is the case tonight, we should see goals and the odds are simply great. Just to a bit more cautious, we will go with the 2-goals over. If the game finished with three or more goals, we're good, and if exactly two are scored, the bet will be void.
The Americans played 7 games after the World Cup and fell short of that only once - against the Czech Republic (1-0). Denmark's last 6 friendly matches finished with more than three goals, one at 2 goals and twice with a 1-0 score.
