Galatasaray without Erceg and Guler

Maccabi lost 3 out of the last 4 games and cannot afford to lose today. In case that happens anyway, the direct clash with Alba in Berlin in the last round would be crucial

Maccabi need to win this game since they are in a tricky situation in Eurolague, while Galatasaray have a tricky situation in the Turkish championship and need to save as much power as possible for the Trabzon game. It is imperative that they beat Trabzon, which makes this clash with Maccabi rather interesting. It is therefore not surprising that Maccabi are the heavy favorites since Galatasaray ruled out Euroleague a few weeks ago. 

Maccabi got into trouble after losing 3 games in the last 4 rounds, while beating only Zalgiris home to get on a 7-5 record, just like Panathinaikos. Alba are following suit with a 6-6 record. Maccabi are to meet Alba in Berlin the last round and in case Alba miraculously beat Panathinaikos in Athens today, there will be a lot of drama in Berlin next round. Everyone in Tel Aviv want to avoid that, which makes the win over Galatasaray an imperative.

- I don't need to tell you how important this game is, this might as well be the most important Top 16 round for us. We need to do our best and the fan support will matter as well - Maccabi's coach said. 

Goodes has some problems with the roster. Ohayon missed the Hapoel Holon game with a foot injury so they need to get Altit from Ironi Ramat Gan to join as Maccabi just didn't have enough players since Pnini, Landsberg and Ohayon are out with injuries. 

It was a close 87-83 win over Holon, with Tyus, Smith, and Haynes spending over 30 minutes on the floor each. Thuy and Smith finished with 23+12 each, while Haynes scored only 4 out of 15 shots.

Maccabi barely managed to beat the decimated Galatasaray in Istanbul when Pargo scored an unbelievable three pointer in overtime. Erceg missed the winning free-throw at the very finish of regulation time, which ruined the good performance he had up until then (29 points).

- We know they struggle with money and everything but their results prove they are not giving up, which is why we need to be aggressive from the start - Goodes said, adding that he believes Ohayon will play. 

Galatasaray put up a great fight against Panathinaikos home last week despite having only 8 players to count on. Those 8 also played the Gaziantep match Monday (scored only 26 points in the second half to lose by 12 points). The defeat got them only one win ahead of Gaziantep (in spot 9) making the situation in the championship got very complicated. 

- We can't be looking for pretexts all the time or talking about fatigue. We made mistakes, the opponents were good in the last quarter and won deservedly. We will be taking some serious measures after this - Ataman said after the Gaziantep match but we don't know what was happening during the week in the practice sessions. 

Will that affect the roster?

- Erceg and Guler are out with injuries. The last two games are a matter of prestige for us. Playing Maccabi even with everyone on board is tough but we'll try and do our best with the players we have.

There is no alternative to Erceg and Micov is therefore expected at position 4, while Arslan needs to spend a lot of time in the game due to Guler's absence. Guler scored team-high 16 points against Gaziantep.
