Crystal Palace - Liverpool (1:2)

Liverpool want to get back at Palace for last season's loss of Premier League title

  • Published:

Crystal Palace won 5 out of the 7 games they played since Alan Pardew took over, but Liverpool will do their best to get back Palace for the last season 3-3 draw in London that basically saw Liverpool lose the title after being in a 3-0 lead

Crystal Palace have been doing very well since Alan Pardew took over early in the year to win five out of 7 games, with their possibly greatest win being the one over Southampton away in FA Cup 4th round (3-2). The draw is clearly not favorable since they're set to face in-form Liverpool but Palace want success, no matter how hard getting it might be.

Crystal Palace are undefeated home in the last 6 head-to-head games with Liverpool and won't be forgetting about last season's final 3-3 after being down 0-3 any time soon, especially because that draw basically saw Brendan Rogers' side lose the race for the title.

- Palace have never been better since I got here. Since Alan Pardew took over, we have better possession, alongside our other good quality weapons like defense and counterattacks - assistant coach Millen said. Injury-struggles are Palace's greatest problem ahead of this game. Midfielder McArthur and forward Sanogo got injured in the Newcastle game, captain Jedinak has still not recovered, just like the new forward acquisition. Williams and Thomas have been out from before, which means Palace's every line is injury-hit.

- Liverpool are on a roll, they will certainly want to get back at us for the 3-3 draw from last season. We have faith in ourselves, we proved we can do anything and we'll do our best to make it into the next round - Millen said.

Liverpool's last Premier League defeat was to Manchester United on December 14th and they went on to lose only one game (League Cup semi finals after overtime) in 15 meetings in three separate competitions.

It's quite clear that Rodger's team are better each next game and that the ambition run higher accordingly. There's nothing Liverpool would want more than a win and qualification into the top 8 at the oldest football competition in the world.

- Lucas Leiva and captain Gerrard's injuries have influenced with our preparation for the Crystal Palace game but that only means Allen and I have to take more responsibility in midfield - Liverpool's midfielder Henderson said. Sterling will most likely be ready too. Balotelli's goal for the 3-2 win over Tottenham is definitely giving Liverpool extra confidence.

- This game is a great chance for us to confirm the good form and to continue the race for the trophy. We'll do any thing to beat Palace - Henderson said. Interestingly, three out of the four head-to-head matches in FA Cup between these teams ended as goalless draws, resulting in a rematch.
