Aachen defeated after a great fifth-set battle

Since most of VCO Berlin's players participated in a national team campaign, this match was postponed for today. Those players are getting back to championship tasks today and these kind of matches are where young players like those usually get experience. Berlin are bottom-table for now and probably won't be able to do anything about it till season's end.

Berlin played their last Bundesliga match exactly 25 days ago as they met Suhl home to record an unexpected win. YOung Berlin's team recorded their first win this season after being down 2-1 in sets. It was a match ridden with mistakes on both sides, and VCO did much better in the last two sets.

They are to face a much tougher opponents today. Aachen are the kind of a team fighting for the upper part of the table and have already beaten Berlin in straight sets (25-23, 25-16 and 26-24) late November. Two of those three sets were close till the very end, but Aachen won them on account of experience. They made less mistakes, even though they didn't play with the best lineup since Aachen's coach rested some of their players in that match.

He might do it again today because Aachen had a tough match on Wednesday. They played Wiesbaden home and lost after 15-7 in the fifth set. Both teams had their ups and downs in that match, with both having brilliant and horrible periods. Wiesbaden were more collected in the finish, while Aachen recorded a total of 39 errors, 18 of which were serving errors. That is the main reason for the defeat. Croatian international Burazer scored team-high 19 points. 

- Both teams had their good and bad moments today. Wiesbaden had more good ones in the end, but smallest things sometimes decided the outcome and that happened today. Sadly, we lost - Bednarova said.

That defeat kept Aachen in position six, the final one that would see them reach playoffs. They will be in a fierce battle to keep that position and three points from today's match will be crucial in those efforts. Any other outcome other than Aachen's win would be a surprise here, given the importance of the match.
