Since they were relocated from Canada ahead of the season 2001/02, the Grizzlies managed to reach playoffs 7 times, but made it into conference semifinals only once (2013). They seem to be better than ever this season which, rightfully, saw their ambition run high. They already secured a spot in their 5th consecutive playoffs and are set to finish the third straight season with at least 50 wins. Besides, Joerger's boys are currently in spot 2 in the West, two and a half wins ahead of their main rivals the Rockets. The Grizzlies are aiming to win the Southwest division, which is something they have never done in their 20-year long NBA history. 

- This is NBA. We have been together for so long and we simply need to keep on playing. We know what we're playing for and what we're preparing for - Zach Randolph said (16.6 points, 10.9 rebounds).

The Grizzlies recorded their 3rd straight win last Monday when they went past New York 103-82 on account of one great half time. As it normally happens against an inferior opponent, the Grizzlies were a bit more relaxed in the opening, but they conceded only 34 points in the second half, 13 of which in the key third period.

- We focused on defense and that is why we won this game. We kept hammering away and hit a few three-pointers, which made everything easier - David Joerger said. His team finished with field goal efficiency of 51.9%, including 7 out of 12 three pointers.

Z-Bo recorded team-high 23 points (9-for-12), while Marc Gasol followed suit with 21 point (9-for-17) and 8 rebounds. Jeff Green helped with 12 points, Kosta Koufos with ten, and veteran Carter finally pitched in with 14 points and 4-for-6 three-point shooting.

- The second part of the season is the most important for me. That is why I was brought here, to make shots. And it's starting to pan out for me - the 38-year-old Carter said (6.1 points per game).

Memphis won 27 out of 34 home games but they are now to face the team with the best record in the league since January 15 (27-6). Cleveland have already secured their first playoffs since 2010 and it seems like they won't have any trouble keeping their No. 2 seed in the East since the Bulls struggle with injuries and the Raptors with form. 

David Blatt's team is on a three-game winning run, the latest win being recorded in Milwaukee Sunday (108-90). The Cavaliers didn't have it easy, though. After they finished the first half with a 53-44 deficit, LeBron James gave his teammates a piece of his mind and then took matters into his own hands to lead the team towards a win.

- I was frustrated by our game. I know when to press the button when need be and tonight was one of those nights when I needed to press the button. I think our communication ramped up. We were just flying around and helping one anther - James said after finishing with 28 points (10-for-17) and 6 assists.

J.R. Smith was the second most productive player at Cleveland with 21 point (8-for-11), while Irving added 20 (9-for-19) and Love finished with only 9 (4-for-13) and stayed on the bench the whole finish of the game.

Even though they're doing brilliantly on both ends of the floor, the Cavaliers won't have it easy today but they can build their optimism on the first head-to-head of the season they won 105-91. They were lead by James, who finished with 25 points, while Gasol scored team-high 23 at Memphis. That match was played before Green joined Memphis, who were back then without Randolph, while the Cavs didn't have Smith, Mozgov, and Shumpert back them.
