Rondo joined the Mavs, Spurs went into three overtimes again last night!

For two matches in a row the Spurs went into three overtimes, and considering they had to use three players for 40+ minutes last night, coach Popovich will have to spare someone tonight (Duncan, Ginobili)

After they lost in the first round of the play-offs last season, Dallas Mavericks have strengthened their roster, but when they saw the competition did the same, they went one step further. They enlisted Rajon Rondo, while Brandon Wright, Jae Crowder and Jameer Nelson move to Boston, and Mavs also had to give up a couple of picks in the draft.

- Time spent in Boston meant a lot to me, I grew up with this city as a basketball player and as a person. The love I bear towards the Celtics fans can't be measured by anything. But I'm looking forward to building something special in Dallas. To have a chance to fight for the title straight away is great honor. I would give anything for another ring. This season Rondo has an average of 8.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 10.8 assists, and he an acceptable 3.4 turnovers. His assists ratio, in contrast to turnovers, is an impressive 3.16, and so far Mavs had 1.96.

- I see Rondo as a guy who knows how to get around, with many different qualities. He's the guy who loves to win - thinks coach Rick Carlisle.

The Mavs are the most efficient team of the league (110.1 p/g) which shouldn't change with Rondo's arrival and who should have a positive effect on the defense. In the last 13 matches they conceded 107.0 points, so Rondo's 1.7 steals will come in handy.

They don't have the time to let things settle because tonight they are welcoming the fatigued San Antonio Spurs who, last night, were defeated by the Blazers with 129-119 after three overtimes.

- I'm proud of the entire team and what they did - said coach Gregg Popovich who was forced to use all of his 11 players, out of which three of them played 40+ minutes, including Tim Duncan.

- Injuries affect things, they mess up the rhythm and the influence shape. Timmy and Manu played for a long time, and we will take that into consideration before bringing our final decision. It seems it's always someone else playing each evening. It would be better to have two injured players for whom we'll know they will be out for three months. This way we're tiring our players a lot, but I'm proud of my boys who did a great job considering the circumstances - added the Spurs' coach who've lost three matches in a row.

Duncan led the Spurs with 32 points (12/24) and ten rebounds, while Dnny Green added 27 points, and Tiago Splitter and Manu Ginobili 14, i.e. 11. Popovich will surely rest a couple of players tonight, and the top candidates are Duncan and Ginobili. So far we don't know if Kawhi Leonard will return, who missed the last two matches because of a hand injury. Tony Parker was out due to a hamstring injury and missed eight out of nine matches.

The Spurs won the last ten head-to-head matches against their Texas neighbors, but since they could be without half of their team tonight, it seems the Mavs have a very good chance of ending that streak.
