Anaheim on a six game winning streak

The home team are steamrolling everyone one in their way, while the Jackets struggle with ups and downs

The Anaheim Ducks started the new NHL season furiously. After the starting defeat they lined up six victories, going straight to the top of the West where they spent the entire last season, and confirming the predictions that they will once again be one of the major teams in the league. Two important veterans retired over the summer, but Ryan Kesler fit in great with the team.

After Minnesota and the Blues it's was time for a rather weaker opponent, Buffalo, whom they sent off with four goals. They had a 2-0 lead up to the very end when Buffalo came back with a goal, but then Corey Perry scored two more for his hat-trick and seals his team's victory. One more player also stood out, their great goalie Andersen, once again performing brilliantly with 96% saves, which allowed his team a chance at victory.


- We're slowly getting used to each other, and the players already know where I'm going to be, and I know the same about them, we are really in sync. I think the team that gets the best chemistry going and gets the team in tune has the best start to the season, which is exactly what we managed- said the great Corey Perry, who already scored eight goals in just seven matches.


Last season they dropped the points with Columbus in the two matches played, but it goes without saying that they're favorites in this home match, being one of the best home teams in the league and facing a team who will be playing their second back to back match. The Ducks are a better team and have a very good chance of winning.


The absentee list goes on for a while, but does not contain any significant names or anything that would disturb their game, and the results prove that.


The Columbus Blue Jackets' form is up and down lately. It started with a 5-2 win against the Rangers, then they lost to Dallas 4-2, followed that up with a 3-2 victory against Calgary, lost against Ottawa with the same score, and finally beat the favored Sharks in a drama finish of their most recent away match.


After the first period ended 2-0 for the Sharks, it seemed things will go down the routine path for the home team, but the Jackets are famous as a team that never gives up. They scored three goals in the second period and turned the match around, but the situation changed once again in the last part, as the Sharks got ahead. However, the Jackets still had the strength to come back with a final blow scored by Mark Letestu twenty second before the end.


- We were losing on several occasions which can be very demoralizing, especially in an away match against a team as strong as the Sharks. In the end we managed to overcome adversity and I'm very happy we won- said the Jackets coach, Todd Richards, after the match last night.


He is still troubled by numerous absences, but the team is managing it somehow. Among the more important ones, he is missing Dano, Dubinsky and Jenner.
