This is the Super Cup final after both teams passed the quarterfinals and the semifinals with ease. The venue for this game is the new Arena in Jerusalem and we will see about 9,600 fans. Hapoel have huge ambitions here, they will play Euroleague qualifications and they have invested huge assets into their team. They brought in Danny Franco from Haifa as the coach and he has brought it Donta Smith along, last year's MVP in the league. They have also brought in several excellent Americans. They will need some time for things to set into their place but the previous two games (+19 against Hapoel Tel Aviv and +25 against Hapoel Holon) show they're on the right track. They played 4 games against Maccabi last season and the score is 2-2. Maccabi went on to become the champions of Europe and the team fell apart then as coach Blatt and Rice, Hickman, Blu, Ingles, Žižić and James left the team. Schortsanitis had a surgery and is out indefinitely. They brought in Aleks Marić who's out of form, which leaves Tyus as their only center. To make things worse, he's doubtful for today after refusing to play for Israel this summer. Several other players are also out. They're very poor in the paint and I think the reigning European champions are definitely not the favorites in Jerusalem where things will get very dramatic.
