Crailsheim were good for a time this season, but that wasn't enough to keep them in the first league. It's not realistic to expect of them to make up for everything in the six remaining matches. Merlins are owners of the second worst defense in the league, they're in a 4-game losing run in which not once did they concede less than 91 points. The problem are also some absences. For a longer time they can't count on their important scorer Crow who, for instance, in the first meeting against Ludwigsburg scored 26 points. Center Frees (13) is also out, wing center Moore has been injured for some time, and center Agafonov, a substitute for Frees, ended with a concussion against Bayern on Saturday and is questionable. At home Merlins won only three out of 14 matches. Ludwigsburg, regarding the first head-to-head against Craliheim, are a lot better. They have the best shot of the league Kenneady, and best rebounder Brockman. The team are complete and lately not many achieve such good results. In the last 14 rounds they were defeated only four times. They beat Oldernurg in an away match with only +22, Hagen with +16; at home they beat only Alba with +12. On Saturday they ended Brose's 16-game winning run by beating them with a double digit difference. Coach Patrick says this is an important match. Currently they're eighth with a 14-14 record., but the same goes for Artland and Gottingen. Braunschweig are at 13-14 so it's clear that the fight for the playoff positions is going to be very tense. The away team has the motivation and quality, and Crailsheim haven't shown they can stand up to stronger teams.
