Do Sidney have the strength for a comeback?

Adelaide won the Cup last Tuesday, had some time to rest, now they can calmly focus on the championship

They were considering the top of the ranking table a month ago in Sydney, but by the time the January break starts, their Top 6 ranking might be in danger. They won just 2 points in the last four rounds, and the biggest slap in the face came against Phoenix on Sunday, as they were beaten at home and Phoenix jumped to fourth place instead of them.

A big part of that can be attributed to absences, some to bad luck as well, but the main issue now is how shaken up are they by the situation and if they are strong enough to turn things around.

- We're weaker, but I have faith in my players. They played well for an hour on Sunday, they deserved the lead at halftime. We control most of our matches, we're just missing continuity- said coach Arnold.

A major injury means a long term absence of a fourth player, center back Ognenovski, but he spent the last weeks visiting doctors anyway, so the team wil be stronger today than on Sunday, by at least one man, winger Brosque.

They're meeting Adelaide for the sixth time this season, and have yet to win their first game (0-2-3). At the end of October they lost 1-3 in the Cup (in extra time), and played a 0-0 draw at the start of November in the championship.

- We played at our standard level, with many opportunities. I have little to object my players, but we have to turn to getting points now- commented coach Gombau.

They dominated with almost two thirds of possession. The return of their first forward Djite might improve their efficiency; apart from Malik who's been away for a while, they're still missing winger Ferreira, which doesn't seem to be much of an issue.
