Lugi cautious after Vasteras's win over Skovde

Lugi are no longer as powerful as they were the previous seasons, havng lost a few important players. Vasteras, on the other hand, didn't lose any and that is enough for the visitors to hope

Vasteras' player Lundqvist said that her team are better by 2 or 3 goals ahead of the last round game and she was right. Vasteras managed to get points against one of the tougher Elitserien teams for the first time this season home after failures with Savehof and Skuru.

- This was a convincing win that is a result of team work. It has been a while since we played at this level throughout the whole game. There were some ups and downs but we got over them luckily - Thorn said.


Vasteras were very good in defense to concede only 19 goals. Skovde struggled with their 5-1 zone defense and even when managing get past that, the goal keepers would stop them from scoring. The offense was not very good, relying on only two players again (Olsson and Linden) but even that was enough  for the Vasteras to record a win over Skovde.


- We prepared really well over the EC break and I think this match only went to prove it. We worked on tempo changes that the girls did very well today, as well as the 5-1 zone defense. I think this was just the beginning for us - Larholm said.


They are in for a very tough challenge today as they meet Lugi, a team much more powerful than Skovde. It seems like Vasteras aren't afraid of anyone after the convincing win last round. Lugi beat them both times last season, by 6 and 4 goals, but things have changed since. Lugi lost a few important players, while Vasteras kept all the key players on the team and made a progress in defense.


- It's very clear that we are improving in each next practice session. We are more dedicated that earlier and I think that makes us better than last season - Bjarrenholt said and added:


- We'll try and beat a team that has a lot of new players on. They are not at their best yet but they're getting there. Beating them and proving we can handle such teams would be great.


Bjarrenholt said her team will play with their usual lineup and there is not information about injuries on Lugi either. Lugi aren't talking too much about this game which means they are cautious - coach Brljevic is never keen on releasing too much information ahead of the games he finds important or demanding for his team. Ahead of the meeting with Vasteras, he only said this:


- We saw what they are capable of and that is a warning for us. We want to win, we don't want to lose our spot in the table to them.


Lugi beat Eslov in the local derby match away last round. That was yet another match Brljevic was very cautious about, but the win was in the end quite easy, with his team controlling the match for the most part. They hope for the same outcome today, but Vasteras are a bit better than Eslov and Lugi don't seem as powerful home as they were last season. It's no wonder Vasteras are hoping.
