Decimated Getafe looking for a miracle as they take on the leading team

Getafe are having a tough time dealing with all the absences and it's not very likely to expect they can stun the top table team today

RCD Espanyol

The city derby against the extremely motivated Espanyol was a potential problem for Barcelona but they in the end dealt with the city rival easily. They got way ahead 45 minutes into the game and didn't allow Espanyol to get close even when they got short-handed in the second half. Barcelona are still top table, which will have to be confirmed against Getafe today, though. 

- We are doing well but Real are breathing down our necks and we cannot afford to let go. Each game until the end will be extremely important, which is why we need to be disciplined against Getafe. They didn't do very well last round but Camp Nou is a big stage and each opponent wants to do well here. We underestimated this last season and ended up taking a point here. That is great enough warning - coach Luis Enrique Martinez said.

Big news is, Thomas Vermaelen is on the list for this game. This defender joined Barcelona 9 months ago but has not played at all due to constant injury struggles. Luis Enrique has had all of his players in the practice session for the first time this season but cannot count with Jordi Alba for today (suspension).

Getafe are not in danger zone but are still not safe from relegation. They are on a 2-game losing run, with the one to feeble Levante being particularly tough on the Madrid-based team. In their defense, we need to point out that they have been forced to do without half of the team due to injuries and suspension. 

The situation is no better today even though defenders Ruano and Velazquez are back after being out with suspensions. However, Diego Castro and Pablo Sarabia, two key midfielders, are out with minor injuries. Karim Yoda, Angel Lafita, Juan Valera, and Vazquez are all out as well, which means the visitors will be faced with an impossible mission today.
