Villarreal still with injury-struggles

Villarreal played a good game in San Sebastian regardless of all the absences but we need to wait and see whether that is enough as they take on the defending champions, who are not affected by the Europe knock-out

Villarreal are in extremely bad form and coach Garcia Toral had a total of only 14 fit and ready A team players at his disposal for the trip to San Sebastian. But, the decimated Villarreal finally managed to put up a good show and even got closer to winning than the indisposed home team. My team fought hard and I cannot find any fault in that. Also, despite not winning for a while now, we rarely ever lose and that makes me optimistic about us getting three points against Atletico. 

His injury-list is still quite long. Bruno Soriano, Musacchio, Martin, Cerisev, Ikechukwu, and Giovani dos Santos are out with injuries, while Jonathan dos Santos won't be there with a suspension.

Atletico are out of the race for the title, they had just been knocked out of Campions League ahead of Elche game, but that didn't stop them to do a great job and cement spot 3 in the table. That is basically the only goal Atletico have left for this season, as spot 3 guarantees an automatic Champions League qualification.

- I'm happy we had the proper approach against Elche. My team has been displaying this rebel spirit all season long and never gives up. That is maybe why the fans love this team and feel pride. I want to see the same kind of approach against Villarreal and we'll see where that gets us - Simeone said.

He can again count on midfielder Suarez, who missed three games with an injury, and defender Guilherme, who recovered from a minor injury. Only midfielder Cani is out today since his contract stipulates he cannot play against Villarreal. But he spend only 66 minutes on the pitch since joining Atletico anyway.
