Athletic lost Muniain for seven months

The home team are still shocked by one of their top players' injury but that doesn't means the visitors will have any compassion today

Athletic's brilliant winning streak was ended this weekend at Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium when Sevilla, who are currently in excellent form, beat the Bask team quite easily home. Athletic have not done great against any of the Champions League spots contenders and are now set to face another team aiming to finish in one of the places in the table that would see them play Champions League next season.

Much more worrying than the defeat itself was a major injury of one of Bilbao's top players Muniain. He will be out for at least 7 months:

- This is a terrible shock for us. You could see it immediately how worried my players were right after the game in Sevilla. We hoped it won't be that bad, but it turned out to be much worse than we had expected. It will be tough without Iker but we need to stick together and play a good game against Valencia.

Ander Iturraspe is out with yet another injury this season, while center back Laporte can't play with a suspension.

It's been a while since Valencia were in spot three. They had a local derby match to play with Villareal on the weekend and the opponents did their best to make life difficult for Valencia's players. The game finished as a goalless draw and since Atletico won, Valencia got back down to 4th place in the table. Much bigger problem for the visitors is the fact Sevilla are doing brilliantly and yesterday's win saw them tie Valencia's point record.

- I don't want to talk about our opponent's result because we can have our faith in our hands. We know that we'l fight for Champions League till the very end, which makes each point in the last 8 rounds very important. We are set to meet Athletic next, who are always good home. I think they are a great team, Muniain's injury in spite. We are motivated, the stakes are high and that is why we are setting off for San Mames wanting to get back home with a good result - coach Espirito Santo said.

He couldn't count on midfielder Perez for a few days now and won't have one of the most important midfielders Parejo either (suspension). Defender Luis Gayo (out with an injury) will be much easier to replace.
