Borussia increasingly better, Schalke struggling

The great local derby match is much more than just three points. The fans live for this game, which means emotions are always running high. The home team are much lower in the table but look much better on the pitch, while Schalke have Huntelaar back, but one player doesn't make a team

Hannover 96

Borussia are on a three-game winning streak in Budesliga and finished their Champions League game against Juventus in Italy with a promising result too. There are 14 Bundesliga rounds left and Borussia are 8 points short of spots leading into Europe. A win today would bring the deficit down.

- A fan told me that we can lose all the games but not the one against Schalke. That says it all - forward Aubameyang said.

He's been one of the best players at Borussia since they started improving. Coach Klopp doesn't have to worry about form at the moment but injuries are a problem.

Hannover 96

- Pizsczek is lost, Sokratis has problems. We hope that he'll be ready after all because we may end up with defense problems otherwise - Klopp said. 

Kagawa, Subotic, and Kampl are sick but all three should be ready to play.

Everythign is quite clear in the 4-2-3-1 formation, with the only open question potentially being the third offensive midfielder. Kagawa and Ruesa are the first two and Kuba from Poland seems to be closes to joining them in the lineup.

Schalke are not doing well despite being in spot 4 and rarely losing. They had another modest performances against Werder and in the end conceded a goal in injury time after a bad reaction by goal keeper Wellenreuther (third option, first two choices injured). It needs to be said though, that Schalke scored after an even bigger mistake made by Werder and that they were harmless for the most part of the game. 

- Even though this is my first derby match at Schalke, I think I'm ready for it. I played a number of these kind of games in Rome and London and, as a rule, did well - Di Matteo said.

The most important thing for him is that he will have Huntelaar back after his 4-game suspension.

- Motinga and him make a very good attacking duo. I'm happy to have him back at my disposal again - the Italian coach said.

He can count on Huntelaar but there is a whole string of others set to miss this game. Most have been out for weeks now, with defender Matip being the last one to join the injury-list.

Di Matteo's team doesn't seem very trustworthy no matter the fact they are much higher in the table than Borussia. The home team will try and win by being creative, Schalke will try and use toughness and destruction of that creativity. There's not much else they are capable of.
