Brasil after their tenth Grand Prix title

Brasil reached the final tournament in an undefeated run. They are the favorite for the title. For Turkey, on the other hand, just being here is a great success

No one could stop the team defending the World Grand Prix title from reaching the final tournament in Tokyo. Brasil are the only team undefeated in the group stage, which makes them a heavy favorite for the title in Tokyo. This is an opportunity for them to win their 10th trophy in this competition. Brasil traveled to Japan from Thailand, following three easy wins there. Those three matches did them good since they had the chance to makes some changes to the line-up, and to give their key players some time off ahead of this tournament.

- We did very well in Thailand. We proved we're a great team. I hope we'll do our best in Japan - team captain said.

Brasil are starting the battle for the 10th title against Turkey. These two team last met at the Alassio cup in Itali last year. Brasil won that match easily even though they weren't playing with the best possible line up. Turkey, on the other hand, had the team not much different from the one that will stand up to Brasil today.

- Turkey are a good-quality team with talented players like their setter Naz and receiver Gozda. We'll study them well. We did the first stage well, and we have a lot of motivation for the  final tournament. I know this match is a start to a new competition - the one we want to win for the tenth time - Sheilla said. 

Turkey were in Russia before coming to Japan. Their trip there was long, they changed a few time zones, the conditions are different, and that will probably cause some problems with adjusting to the new environment. They managed to qualify for the final tournament by beating Italy in the final game 3-1(25:23, 25:19, 22:25 i 25:23).

- I'm very happy we won today. We did very well from the very start, and we had only one goal - to reach the final. I want to thank my team for being successful in it, we're off to Japan - the Turkish coach Barbolini said following that Italy game.

Their success is even greater if we know that they managed to reach the final tournament without their top player Demir. They had no other player available for the opposite position, so receivers Neriman and Gozde had to step in. Their first choice setter Ademir missed the first two tournaments, the match against Italy being her first one she participated in fully. With all those problems on their back, being here in Japan is a great success for Turkey. They will try to put up as much fight as they can today.
