Not even Sherwood managed to get Aston Villa moving

Newcasle are at the middle of the league table, thanks to their unconvincing games, while Aston Villa are now in a six defeats run with the new coach Sherwood, and they are down to the next to last place

Newcastle only got two points in the last three matches. They were defeated 0-5 in an away match against Manchester City, but they're still feeling okay at the 11th place with 32 points.

They'll be the hosts three times in the next four rounds, and their first test is against the stumbling Aston Villa. Aston are down to the next to last place of the league table thanks to six consecutive league defeats. Everyone in Newcastle believe this will be a good chance for them to win, even though they know how motivated the Birmingham club will be.

- We started the match against Manchester City awfully, and after conceding two goals, there was no going back. But that's a lesson you have to take sometimes - Newcastle coach John Carver said. 

He lost the defensive midfielder Colback who got carded before today's match, but the experienced Argentinian midfielder Jonas Gutierrez is coming back after being away for 17 months. He had a testicular cancer. 

- Gutierrez will probably wait for his chance from the bench today, but his fight with his disease is a great example for everyone how you should never give up - Carver pointed out. He has to really motivate his team who are regularly struggling to keep up. 

- We've practiced really hard this week and we'll do everything to make up for the defeat in the last round by winning - Carver promised. 

Out of the last eight matches Newcastle played against Aston Villa, they won five times and had three ties.

Tim Sherwood was met as a savior in Aston Villa, but even he as a new coach couldn't do anything when his players ruined everything they could in the championship match against Stoke. Aston Villa lead in the 20th minute, but then fell back and conceded a goal in the last minutes of the first half-time. The game was weak and not at all creative on either side in the rest of the match, but Aston Villa's best defender, Ron Vlaar, made a fault completely unnecessary in the 90th minute and got sent off, so Moses got his chance to score and get three points for Stoke. 

Mental block with Aston Villa's players is more than obvious. They lost their self-confidence, and haven't won for 11 rounds now, since December 7th last year. Tim Sherwood has a tough task of getting the team to move. Even one win would be worth gold. He thought his arrival would have a positive effect even against Stoke already, together with passing through to the FA cup quarterfinal, but no luck there.

- It was a weak game on both sides, you can't get anything positive from it, but the way we lost is a bitter disappointment. No, no sense to be banging our heads about it now, we have to work on ourselves and get the maximum in the games that remain. This is a big club and we're not even thinking about the possibility of being eliminated from the league - Tim Sherwood was thinking. That's only vocal encouragement, but without some action on the field to follow, they'll be eliminated whether they're thinking about it or not.

 - Even though every coach needs some time to set things the way he wants them to be, I don't really have that time, and we have to get the max out of every duel, including this one in Newcastle. The key is to get results from our actions, and get Benteke back on form, he's a player that makes any defense tremble - Sherwood explained. In his team, captain Vlaar got suspended after that stupid move, and the midfielder Richardson is injured.
