Mazzari needs points against the potential successor

Mihajlovic has been doing a great job at Sampdoria and with Inter's current crisis, seems to be one of the main candidates for Mazzarri's successor

The situation at Inter is far from ideal, with the Milan team not managing to get anywhere near the top Serie A table in Mazzarri's second season at the club. Following two convincing defeats to Cagliari and Fiorentina, Inter managed to get a point against Napoli and beat Cesena, but once again, their game was not at the level expected by the fans and president Thorhir. The only goal they scored against Cesena was a result of a penalty kick awarded to Inter following the sent-off of Cesena's goal keeper Leali. That was the only goal in the game. Honorary president Moratti stepped down and Thorhir once again publicly supported Mazzarri, despite the media toying with a few names that could be appointed instead of him. David Moyes got in the picture recently, while Mihajlovic, Sampdoria's coach, has been in it for a while.

Mazzarri refused to comment the possibility of leaving the club.

- Sampdoria are in good form and we will need a game like the ones we did with Napoli and Cesena. We got off to a good start in those. I'm happy with our performances in the last two games, that is the approach we need to keep on having. I want the team to be aggressive and ready to do what ever it takes to win. We're experiencing problems - one look over the stats makes it clear. But, we need to prevail together. The atmosphere at San Siro can be of great help.

22 players are on Mazzarri's list for the Sampdoria game. Nagatom and Guarin got injured and won't play today, just like D'Ambrosi, Jonathan, M'Vila, and Osvald, who have not been on the team for a while. Palacio and Icardi should be Inter's attacking force once again, with offensive midfielders Hernanes and Kovacic helping them.

Sampdoria have had a great start to the season, confirming their good form in a draw with Roma on Saturday. Tough and well-organized defense that conceded only 4 goals this season is the driving force of Mihajlovic's team. The offense-oriented Calgari managed to score two of those with Sampdoria short-handed. The head-to-head games with Inter over the past few years weren't really successful for Sampdoria since they managed to get only 2 points in the last 6 of them.

Mihajlovic's been associated with the coach position at Inter a lot lately:

- Every coach in the world, me included, would love to coach Inter, but this is no time to talk about that because I have a lot of respect for other coaches who are being asked similar questions. This game is a great pleasure for our club. We are the third best team in the league with a 4-point advantage over the opponent. We're the only other undefeated team besides Juventus, we're the second best defense, and we managed to prevent Roma from scoring on Saturday. But we need to stay humble - the game with Inter is a great test. I believe it can turn out a success for us if we perform well. I'm saying it only because I'm convinced we can do it.

Gabbiadini, Okaka and Eder are supposed to lead Sampdoria's offense again. Mihajlovic has Cacciatore and Regini fighting for the left back position and still needs to decided which one of them will start the game. With first choice goal keeper Viviano still injured, the Argentinean international Romero is expected on Sampdoria's goal once again, especially after his great performance last Saturday with Roma.
