Muslin took over at Amkar

A coach who turned Krasnodar into a powerful club took over at the visiting team. As for the players, not much has changed in either team compared to the last season

Terek recorded their best result ever two years ago, and hoped that they could do even better in the year to come - a spot in the European competitions was the goal. But, coach Krasnozhan managed to destroy the balance and the team spirit Stanislav Cherchesov built, and Terek were force to fight for the stay in the league. As soon as the new coach Rakhimov took over, Terek improved their game and in the end managed to save themselves from relegation. 

The club president Kadyrov, who's at the same time the president of Chechnya, was happy with the new coach, who was offered a contract extension, and will stay at the club till the summer of 2017. Nothing changed compared to the last season, no players joined and no one left. This team should fight for the positions mid-table, and if they start the championship fiercely, they might get motivated even to reach Europe. But, the competition this year is extra fierce. 

- We did a good job in the preparation period, regarding both physical fitness and tactics. We played good teams and I believe we're ready for the season - captain Utsyev said, and added:

- We had two practice session almost every day. We really worked hard, and we can't afford to do as we did last year. That was a disaster.

Terek can count on all of the players for this match.

Amkar were one of last season's sensations, at least in its first part. Cherchesov had a lot to do with that, but as soon as Spartak and Dinamo showed interest in him and it got obvious the team would lose their great coach, things went south, the atmosphere was no longer as good, and they started recording bad results. There was no way they could reach Europe, and they were safe from relegation, which were additional reasons for the decline.

Paromontov was a temporary substitution for Cherchesov, but he wasn't good enough to stay in that position longer. The Serbian coach Muslin took over in June. He was the coach at Krasnodar two seasons ago, and did his job successfully, but had to quit due to health problems.

- We had a few candidates to choose from, but we decided Muslin will be the one. He's got great reputation, he knows the Russian league very well, and speaks Russian fluently. We gave him a tough task - the team should be among the top ten teams - president Shilov said.

Not much changed at Amkar compared to last season. Dinamo's forward Solomatin joined on loan, while Kanunnikov left for Rubin.

Since Martin, Amkar's top forward, is injured, Solomatin should have his debut today.
