Chivas without their first-choice center-back duo

Dallas undefeated in nine games, forwards in good form and Castillo coming back

After the break in June, Chivas charged towards the top with 4 consecutive wins but they were calmed down by the end of July in an even more abrupt manner with 2 convincing defeats. After 1-3 in Washington, coach Cabrera mixed the squad, used five new players but got no result; in fact, the Rapids got an even bigger defeat.

- We've had a few injured players: Bocanegra, Burling, Chavez, some were ever tired...We tried to give our younger players a chance - said Chivas's coach later on.

Minda, Rosales and Chavez are coming back today, while their offense is practically complete, but their center-back duo Bocanegra-Burling is still out. Their full-back Toia is not too happy:

- The problem lies in communication, with or without the ball. Boca is a very experienced player and he distributes us across the pitch - he's almost impossible to replace.

They have already played two away games in Dallas, they lost by 1-3 in March and got a 1-1 draw in May. They have won only one of their 12 games.

The team from Texas got a 2-2 draw in Vancouver after an excellent game with plenty of chances on both ends. This was their 9th undefeated game in a row, and the fourth game in which they scored at least twice.

- We've done a good job. They guys did their best and, considering the absences and the quality of our opponents, we have to be happy - commented Oscar Pareja.

The cooperation between Akindele and Perez is improving and Castillo is back in the squad after a longer suspension (scored against Chivas in both previous games) and it seems the young coach will face a very sweet dilemma. It seems he will start as the ace from the bench.

- He's ready but the team is our priority, not the individuals. Every player is important, but everyone has to work for the team.

Their full-back Benitez is also close to getting back and the only absences are three long-term injured players and their reserve keeper Seitz. Their midfielder Jacobson was released during midweek into his new MLS club New York FC.
