The Australian has struggled with hip and shoulder problems and his footwork is still not perfect. However, even that was too much for Kohlschreiber. Kyrgios is now to face an opponent with good serve too

Even though he didn't play many clay court matches and has acted like he was at a practice session last week in Lyon, Kyrgios proved to be good when focused once again. He beat Kohlschreiber in straight sets without much trouble or footwork. He fired 20 aces and saved all 3 break points. Raw power was enough this time. 

- I know many wondered how I would play. I didn't know how it's going to be either but it all turned out great. I played the way I should - very aggressively and my serve was good too - the Australian said and commented on his collaboration with Grosjean:

- I think my game doesn't need a lot of changing but I was looking for a man who can deal with me mentally. I know I'm not easy and I don't listen to every piece of advice. He gets that and he can tell me right things at the right moment. That's what I need.

The Australian is not easy to like but the press always get statements for the front cover from him. One member of the press asked him if he practices enough on clay:

- Not really. I don't practice on clay much because it makes my car dirty. That is why I avoid clay court in Australia. 

Anderson

After the first game in the match, Anderson went on will all the other service games. But at the same time, he didn't do much on return. Regardless of that, he won in straight sets. 

Unlike Kyrgios, he spent quite a lot of time on clay court this season. He played 15 matches and recorded straight wins in all 4 tournaments. The Australian will have it tough on return this time. Just a reminder, Anderson won their only h2h match (saved two match points).
