The defeats at the start of the season are 'masked' with the strength of the opponents. But the past weekend showed us that the Dutch is in a big crisis. Wozniacki recorded back-to-back wins at the first three tournaments

She recorded back-to-back wins at the first three tournaments, lost to Top 10 (Konta) and Top 20 (Strycova) players, she had a set and 3-0 lead in the second against unpredictable Georges. Maybe we expected more from the returnee to the Top 20 at the start of the season, but the Dane herself pointed out that she is feeling great on the court:

- I am looking forward to the season, and the start was much better than last year. 

Henrik Jensen, tennis editor at a television network, said that the draw here is good for Wozniacki since she is facing a player without any confidence. And there is a lot of truth in that. 

Bertens

The Dutch's slip ups at the start of the season have been 'masked' by the strength of her opponents to whom she lost. But the weekend behind us confirmed that Bertens is without any confidence. She was 'pinned against the wall' against Sabalenka, but managed to win after saving a match-point, and then deservedly lost to Sasnovich:

- Sasnovich plays long rallies and returns a lot of balls. She is a difficult opponent for me, especially when I am not playing well. 

Bertens allowed break-point chances in 8/10 service games, and of 65 points Sasnovich won, she got 35 thanks to opponents' mistakes. 

She will now again face a player who can return a lot and run a lot as well, but she is even better than Sasnovich. In St- Petersburg, Bertens lost to Beck after three straight wins in head-to-heads, with 67 unforced errors. And it is not hard to come to the conclusion that Bertens really lacks confidence. Besides, she herself pointed out that she is not playing well.
