Zeballos retired from Quito doubles due to neck problems

This is the second injury he is complaining about in the last 10 days, but he looked good in the single against Melzer and he could have won

The Argentinian retired from Davis Cup after a hamstring injury, but he has shown in the match against Melzer in Quito that he is not having any problems. In a match dominated by serves, the Austrian simply managed better in key moments and that is why he won. In the end Zeballos played the doubles final, but he retired due to neck problems mid-way through the first set. 

That is the second injury he is complaining about in a short period of time, but based on his performance, it doesn't seem it was anything serious.

He reached the quarter-final here in 2011, since then he played here 4 times but was eliminated in the first round every time. However, only once as a slight favorite (Bedene), others were strong players (Ramos, Almagro, Wawrinka). In the last two seasons he has 2-1 against players ranked from 21st to 50th position. 

Sousa

The Portuguese started the year with an ATP final which was a great start, and then lost in the first round of Melbourne to Thompson. Congrats to the local player, but Sousa slipped up there, especially since he had 2-0 in sets. 

- I was not up for the task when it comes to form. I had problems before the match, and things got worse at the end of the second set. He served well and played a good match - said Sousa. 

After that, Joao played in the Davis Cup against Israel. On the first day he easily defeated a players who is barely in the Top 1000, and then brought them 3-0 lead in the doubles the next day. 

Zeballos and Sousa never faced each other before.
