Stan is 5-1 in GS quarterfinals since 2015

Tsonga ended Evans' run by putting up a great performance. Wawrinka managed to beat the tricky Seppi in three tie-breaks. Now that Murray and Novak are out, everyone is hoping to win the title and the stakes are extremely high

It's no wonder that Wawrinka struggled with Seppi as he rarely trashes his opponents and the Italian has always been a tough nut to crack. However, a player of Stan's quality mostly manages to get a win in matches that important and that one was no different. Seppi was a break ahead in 2 out of 3 sets and even served for the third set and had a set point but Wawrinka ended up winning with 3 breaks, Ivo Karlovic style. 

- It was a close match, finishing it was tough. Three tie breaks and almost three hours. I think both of us did well in tough conditions. It was interesting to play him. I think I found a way to be aggressive, I mixed things on the court in crucial moments - Wawrinka said.

Since two top seeds are out, this has now become anyone's Slam. That is definitely what many players think about. 

- Tsonga is always there. He's always around Top 10, he used to be Top 5. He played a final here, reached semis of every Grand Slam. It will be an interesting match - Wawrinka said.

As of 2015, Wawrinka played 6 GS quarterfinal and won 5.

The Frenchman stopped Evans, but still dropped a set. The Brit opened aggressively but he mixed things up and played a smart game. He won the first set tie break, but didn't stand a chance later on. Tsonga didn't allow him a single break point in third and fourth set, while Evans got just two in the second set. Tsonga did great on serve once again to prove conditions slightly faster than those in the previous years do him good. A player like him is always dangerous like that. 

- He did well at the beginning and had nothing to lose. He took the shot very early. After that start, I played hard. I've been doing well from the very start of the tournament - the French player said.

This will be the toughest challenge for both of them at AO so far. They are 4-4 in H2H meetings but Wawrinka won the last three. Six of those were played on grass court, though.
