Serena was not great against Strycova and she would struggle a lot against Konta with such performance. The Brit is the best for of her career and she is 'threatening', but Serena is Serena

Konta's form has already been praised a lot, she is playing great tennis. She is serving well, does not make a lot of mistakes considering she is not playing passively, she is great from both sides, and both in defense and offense. Besides, it is enough to say that she won 18 straight sets. She could hardly have imagined a better way to go into the match against Serena Williams. Her last victim was Makarova, Konta completely outplayed her in the first set, and even though she was down 1-4 in the second set, she did not give away a single game for the rest of the match. 

- I definitely got out and played at a higher level than her, but she got back in the match and made things more difficult. I did everything right in the second set, she played well and I just kept believing in myself and luckily didn't have to be on the court for long - said Konta. 

Now she will face the ultimate test in the form of Serena Williams. Even though the American lost the Top ranking position, she will always be the best and the most dangerous. 

- Believe it or not, this will be an incredible experience for me. She is one of those players I watched while growing up and I cannot wait to play against her. In the last year or so I played against Top placed players and Grand Slam champions and I know what it's like, and I will prepare the best I can for someone like Serena. I am looking forward to that match and I will give my best - the Brit promised. 

Williams

The American won the first three rounds without much problems, Bencic and Safarova had provided some resistance, but they are former Top 10 players. After that he demolished Gibbs and she was expected to play better against Strycova. Even though the Czech deserves respect, Serena was not at her best. She lost too many serves in the first set, that segment was weak. It wasn't easy in the second set either, she had to finish the set with return. 

- It is good to have a plan B. I didn't serve well today, but she returned well also, you know, it is always good to have a something you can improve and I know I can serve much better - said Serena. 

The impression was that she would be 'breathing' much more difficult with such performance against Konta, and that she had problems against Strycova as well. But the American can do much better than in the 4th round, and she is Serena after all. But she is aware of Konta's momentum.

- I have watched her a lot. She is playing really, really well. She is offensive and I know her well - said Serena.

Interestingly, Serena and Konta never faced each other before.
