Tenis » Shenzhen (W), Hard court, 2nd Round
04.01.2017. 05:10 Finished
Kristyna Pliskova - Kai-Chen Chang (6:1 6:2)

Pliskova won last season on hard court in third set tiebreak

  • Published:

Chang finished with more total points but there was a lot more play on her serve throughout that match (116-85 played points). However, Pliskova used just 4 out of 18 break points, Chang 5 out of 5. Both struggled with the serve here and the Czech even saved two match points against Sevastova (and had a 0-4 deficit in the third set)

Pliskova

The Czech will probably remember only the final win over Sevastova from the start. She won just one game in the first set and was two breaks down in the second. In the third set, she was 4-0 down and then saved two straight match points in the tiebreak. She finished with less points than her opponent but we need to point out that she converted 5 out of 6 break points.

Last season the Czech was 18-3 against players outside Top 100. However, Chang was in the Top 100 in 2010 and it seems she could be back there soon enough.

Chang

She reached main draw through qualifiers here and then knocked out Golubic in straight sets. Her opponents finished last season on the verge of Top 50. Chang played her game from the start, with a lot of risk but that paid off in the end. She lost her serve just 4 times in the match but we need to say that she saved 10 out of 14 break points and had 9 double faults. She used 7 out of 8 break points on return.

Last season on hard court in Daliano, Pliskova won in their only previous head-to-head match. But she needed the third set TB for that. Chang won more total points in the end (104-97) but her serve was much better than the Czechs (116-85). Pliskova used just 4 out of 18 break points in that match, Chang went 4-for-4.
