Agnieszka Radwanska - Casey Dellacqua (6:1 6:4)

Radwanska with nice memories of head-to-head meetings with Dellacqua

  • Published:

Casey recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this season here. She lost both official matches against Aga easily. The Pole is a better player and has better rhythm and form

Radwanska found form ahead of the start of this season's Wimbledon. The Pole had problems this season but grass court got the best out of her game as she did very well at two preparation tournaments and then confirmed momentum at Wimbledon.

The dealt with a problem called Hradecka in the first round. The Czech managed to stay in the match for a long time on account of her match and aggressive style but she had to admit to the opponent being better in the end. Tomljanovic was expected to put up a better fight in the second round but it didn't happen. Ajla's plan to strip the Pole off the rhythm through aggressive tactics failed and she lost easily.

It's tough to talk about what was happening because Radwanska simply crushed her opponent, limiting her to only 2 games in total. Some tactical aspects of the match and key moments are simply not worth talking about because Radwanska had control and dominance from start till finish.

This was a revenge of sorts but it was also expected that the Pole will play better on grass court since this surface suits her much more than the clay. Now, at this moment, Radwnska seems like a Top 10 player again, finally doing well after having a rather bad season. She knows just how tough the previous period was.

- I've had a tough few months but I think I feel much better now. I think that grass court changed everything. It helped me find my best level and I'm currently playing a very good game - Aga said.

Grass court has really made all the difference in her game. She beat the next opponent Dellacqua on grass court last season here and this season on clay court in Madrid as well. That is why she has nice memories of the Australian.

- I played her on every possible surface and I know what to expect. Of course, I remember our head-to-head match here last season - Radwanska said. She is the favorite today, her form is better, and she has a better head-to-head record. The Australian didn't get close to winning in any of their matches.

Also, Casey recorded back-to-back wins only once this season - here at Wimbledon. That says a lot about the kind of season she's having. As for her matches here, she beat Paszek in the first and Svitolina in the second round. The Ukraine didn't display great tennis in the first round either and Dellacqua's win didn't come as a surprise for anyone.

Svitolina did, however, took a 4-1 lead in the first set but Casey tied the score at 4-4. There were no more chances against serve and Casey went on to win the tie-break. After that, things pretty much started going her way. Svitolina fought as usually but the Australian somehow controlled the second set.

- She played Roland Garros quarterfinals and this is therefore a good win for me. I feel confident about what I can do here - the Australian said.

Her potential is not bad, she likes grass court but she is to face Radwanska now. The Pole is better game-wise and has better grass court rhythm. She is also better in head-to-head matches, having won each and every one of them easily.
