The Spaniard played Barcelona finals on Sunday

Souza left Barcelona with one game won, but the injury is not being mentioned. He should feel better in Munich because he loves higher altitudes. Andujar recorded three wins in 11 tournaments, but last week he played his best tennis ever and only Nishikori managed to stop him

Who knows what would have happened if Andujar hadn't run into Ramos in Barcelona's first round. Up until then he won only three times out of 11 tournaments this season. In two matches he was the favorite, while he made a "surprise" against Nieminen who is getting closer to being knocked out of the Top 100. Ramos fell, and Andujar only continued his dominance over him, and then other fellow national players started falling too. Beating Lopez is no surprise because he never wanted to go to Barcelona in the first place. Fognini's desperate edition can be interpreted as "being hungover" after beating Nadal, but beating Ferrer in Barcelona can't be no accident.

- I played one of the best matches of my career against Ferrer. I worked hard this season. The scores didn't do me any favor, but I couldn't have wished for a better place for such success - Andujar was thrilled, but he couldn't stand up to Nishikori:

- I think the match was very good. Regarding my game, in the second set I deserved more, but I missed the chances. I believed I could win. I failed, although I'm happy because I've played great the whole week and now I'm heading to Germany full of enthusiasm.

Unlike Andujar who reached Barcelona finals, Souza left that city with one game won. There's no information about the injury, but being defeated in 53 minutes is proof of a desperate edition. It was a walk in the park for Kukushkin. We can say that the Brazilian's fall came with the Davis Cup weekend where he lost to Mayer in a historical match. A match which lasted almost seven hours. ITF seriously started thinking of introducing a tie-break to the decisive set. That was weak comfort for Souza who lost both matches in five sets that weekend.

After that weekend the Brazilian lost the next three matches. He wasn't himself against Zverev because he started preparing late, and then he lost to Sock who won his first ATP title that week. Although last week's edition looks worrying, arriving to Munich will surely fix things. Firstly because it can't be worse than Barcelona. Secondly because he always preferred higher altitude, and this one is 500 m above sea level. Besides, he beat Andujar in their only head-to-head in similar conditions four years ago. Although Andujar said he's full of motive for Munich, he played the Barcelona finals on Sunday. Before that he won only three times out of 11 tournaments.
