Hull City - Manchester United (2:1)

United beat Hull in 12 out of the last 13 meetings

This is the second leg League Cup game. Manchester United have a big 2-0 win from the first leg and haven't lost in Hull since 1974

Southampton managed to reach the League Cup final for the first time in 38 years. The Hull and United meeting today will decide who their opponents will be in the final. 

The visitors are defending a big 2-0 lead from Old Trafford, which means Hull need to win by three goals. In case they win by 2, there would be extra time in which the away goal rule applies. 

Hull are in a tough situation in Premiership. They are in the penultimate place in the table after 22 rounds. However, they are just two points short of the safe zone and nothing is lost yet. 

Coach Silva is doing everything he can to acquire some good players during the transfer window. Midfielder Lazar Markovic and Omar Elabdellaoui joined recently, while forward Niasse joined before. All of them are at coach's disposal for the United game. 

- Of course, United are in a great situation because of the 2-0 win from the first round but we need to get into this game wanting to win. We got ready for it, we still have a chance for the final and we'll try and do our best - Hull's coach Marco Silva said. The entire team was shaken by a bad injury Ryan Mason suffered. His scull fractured and he was immediately taken into surgery. The news is good so far but that is a very dangerous injury. 

- At the moment, we need to forget about everything, because the most important thing are the player and his family. Nothing else matters. We need to all support him and his family. This is not an easy moment for us - Silva said. He cannot count on Keane, Elmohamady, Henriksen, Mbokani and Davies either. 

- I want the players to enjoy the pressure of this kind of a game. We might make some changes to the lineup but we'll be able to fight United, who won't come here thinking it's all over already. I expect them to go with a strong lineup as they normally do. They want to make it into semis just like us. We are going into this game believing we can reach the final - Marco Silva said. The fact is, 26 out of 27 teams that lost the first game by 2 or more goals failed to reach the final.

Only Aston Villa managed to get through to the final after losing the first leg in the semis 1-3 to Tranmere but that was back in 1994. 

Hull can be happy about the fact they have no defeats in the last 6 home games in the League Cup (three defeats and a draw). They scored a goal in each of those. 

Two straight Premiership draws stopped United's winning run but Mourinho has no defeats in the last 17 games, which is why they can be very optimistic about this. 

The 2-0 lead is a big one, they have better quality and won't go to Hull to defend. They will want a win to settled this semifinal.

- Everyone is at my disposal but Bailly. He is back from Africa but he is still not ready for this game. I believe I'll go with a lineup which will guarantee a good game - Jose Mourinho said. He will probably make some changes because defenders Rojo and Shaw are back. Both will most likely start today, just like substitute goalkeeper Romero. 

- We need to go about this game like any other. We won't defend our lead but rather keep focus and intensity. We want to try and win because we all want the trophy from Wembley - Carrick said. United won 12 out of the last 13 meetings with Hull and have no defeats. Their last defeat in Hull is from 1974.
