The Knicks have 13 defeats in the last 16 games

Both teams want to reach the playoffs but neither has been doing great so far. Both are on a 2-game losing run. The Pacers have better results than their opponents lately, while the Knicks barely ever win

The Pacers and the Knicks had the same ambitions ahead of the season - to get in the playoffs. The Pacers are doing well so far as they sit in spot 7 with 22 wins while the Knicks hold spot 11 with 3 wins less. 

The Pacers have finished a 3-game road trip and managed to record 2 defeats after the win over the Kings. They first lost to the Lakers unexpectedly and then to Utah 109-100. George Hill hit 30 points in the game against his former team. 

The start wasn't too good for them as they lost the first quarter 34-21 and then got 10 points short before the half time. The start of the second half was good as they got just 2 points down but went on to allow 12 in a row. That was when the game was decided for them.

George being ejected with 6 minutes left on the clock didn't help. He hit 19 points, just like Young, who also added 9 rebounds. Teague had 19 points and 7 assists. Ellis recorded double-digits after a while (15 points from the bench).

- We knew they had a dangerous offensive end. We know they were tough in defense. We didn't finish the road trip as we wanted to but we will now go home to defend the home court - coach McMillian said. 

Their first opponents will be the Knicks, who are doing horribly. They recorded 13 defeats in the last 16 games, the last one to the worst team in the West, the Suns (101-103).

They were 6 points down at half time and managed to tie the score by the end of the third quarter. They had the lead throughout the last quarter, until Booker hit a three, which was the final points of the game as Melo missed a three point attempt that would have seen them win. 

- It's tough to accept this defeat. We got the shot we wanted but it didn't go in this time - Melo said after finishing with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. 

Rose followed suit with 26 points and added 7 assists, Porzingis added 14 points, while Lee had one point less. Noah had no points but recorded 15 rebounds.

Coach Hornacek talked about the first part of the season, which definitely didn't go as planned:

- The year is interesting to say the least. It was tough at the start when Rose missed games. Later on, Noah had injury struggles and there were other minor injuries as well. I think we're doing a good job overall and I think we stand a chance of reaching our goals. 

These teams met twice this season and each recorded one win. They were better than the Knicks in December 118-11 while the Pacers retaliated two weeks ago with a 123-109 win.
