Golden State cannot afford another defeat to the Cavs

The acquisition of Durant after last season's loss of the final series should have been enough for the Warriors' dominance but they lost their 4th straight game to the Cavs at Christmas. Another such failure would be a big blow for their confidence

Kevin Durant joined the already brilliant team which now definitely has to aim for the title, but nothing other than excellence is important in today's NBA. Steve Kerr has the best group of players on the planet at his disposal. All they want to do is forget about the defeat in last season's final. They had a chance to start doing start at Christmas but ended up losing the 4 straight head-to-head after controlling most of the game and having a 14-point lead in the last quarter. 

- They are even more dangerous now. They're more dangerous than last season and that is very difficult since they were really good last season. They might be even better this season - LeBron James said. He recorded 31 points and 13 rebounds in the 109-108 win. Irving and Love added 25 and 30, respectfully. 

The Warrior have the upper hand here since the furthest they had to go in the last three weeks was Sacramento. They had three days to rest since the last game (127-107 win over the Pistons). Kevin Durant hit 25 points, Curry 23, while Thompson added 23 as well.

Ever since they lost to the Cavs, the Warriors won 7 out of 8 games and their only slip over that period of time was the defeat to the Grizzlies who managed to make up for a 4-point deficit. They went on to record three wins after that. 

The Warriors are in for a few extremely tough games as they are to face Westbrook and Thunder on Wednesday and have to go to Houston just two days later to start a 4-game road trip. 

The home team will be pretty well-rested today, while the defending champions face their 6th road game in 11 days. They ended the two-game losing run on Friday with a win over the Kings (120-108) in Sacramento. Kyle Korver, who joined recently, left a great impression. He hit 18 points in 25 minutes to make up for the two bad opening games. 

Irving hit team-high 26 points, while James focused on assists (16 points, 15 assists). 

- It's good to play a game like this to get our confidence up. This is nothing new for me. I knew I would need some time. I'm excited to be a part of this team - Korver said. He combined 4 points in the previous two games.

A shooter like him will definitely help the Cavs today, especially when he will be on the floor alongside James. Durant hit team-high 36 points on the Warriors in the first head-to-head, while Thompson and Curry hit 24 and 15.
