Real without Doncic

An absence of a 17-year-old player would normally not be considered important but that's not the case here because Doncic is very important for Real's game. Without him, the most experienced players will have to pull their weight today

Brose had it easy in Bundesliga over the weekend. They recorded an easy win by 23 points in a game which served them as practice session ahead of this game. Meeting Real is always something special and coach Trinchieri is even more motivated after the bad defeat in the first meeting: 

- They probably have the biggest roster in Europe. We got very close of beating them last season but they trashed us in Madrid this season. They are definitely better than us but if they want to beat us here, they will have to try hard because we won't give up.

Those are not just empty words because Brose didn't give anyone two points easily at this arena in the last few years. In the first meeting in Madrid, they lost by 23 points but they could have lost by more. It was their worst game of the season. They will have to do much better today, especially the centers. If they allow Real 15 rebounds more, it's almost impossible to get the win.

Real had a derby meeting with Valencia on Sunday. Their games with Valencia are normally very tough but they were dominant this time, which is no wonder when your three-point shooting is at 50 percent. Beating a team with that is almost impossible. The powerful Valencia couldn't fight that either. Llull hit team-high 16 points and added 13 assits, but Real had 11 different scorers, which is basically their biggest strength. Maciulis didn't play but he should be back today:

- I'll always be saying only nice things about Brose because they really play a great game. They are a balanced team with good-quality players at all positions. We will have to avoid the rhythm which suits them and go with our own rhythm - Laso said.

His team has improved defense significantly over the past few games, which resulted in a good run. Even Carroll, who is mostly focused on the offensive end, noticed that:

- We are playing very good defense lately and that allows us to have ti easier on the offensive end too. Our goal is to keep it up against Brose because they have a good offensive end with a lot of assists and uncontested shots.

Real were able to control that kind of a game so far, which is why they haven't allowed over 80 points in any of the last 5 games. They will need to do well in defense again today because Brose are very tough to beat home if the opponents allow them to play their game.

Real will be without their wunderkind Doncic, who suffered a blow in the Valencia game. That isn't anything serious but they decided to spare him, which is a good idea since he's just 17.
