Betis in decline

After ending the black run, Malaga played badly in Eibar, and today they will seek redemption against local rivals who can't praise with good shape

Malaga ended the winless run with a bit of luck against Las Palmas, but only one round after that they returned to their bad habits. In an away game against Eibar, Malaga didn't stand a chance, and the key problem of the club are numerous injury struggles. They don't have to fear the relegation zone this season, but after a good start, a lot more was expected than the 14th place.

After getting beaten against Eibar, Marcelo Romero said the following:

- It was one of our worst games in a long time. We weren't ourselves and Eibar deserved to crush us. We made a step back, but one bad performance shouldn't erase everything good we did so far. We were on a rise, and we finally won, and then this happened. But, we will get a chance to redeem ourselves very soon, and there's nothing the fans like more than when you defeat local rivals, and that's what Betis are. We're up at full speed to do what we did before Eibar, and I believe we can get back on track.

Midfielders Jose Rodriguez and Ignacio Camacho are done with suspensions and will return among the starting eleven today, but for the same reason defender Roberto Rosales is out. Zdravko Kuzmanovic, Recio, Bakary Kone and Youssef En-Nesyri and Sandro Ramirez have been absent from before, and probably the lightly injured Juanpi will join them today. He will be replaced by Keko.

Real Betis tied two defeats in local derbies, and the one which was especially painful was the last one against the city rivals Sevilla at home. Betis did lose, but we can hardly say anything against them. They were even the better rivals at some points, they went to half-time with holding the advantage, and then in 20 minutes of the second half they gambled it all away. Despite the defeat, Betis are managing to keep themselves outside of the danger zone, but the advantage slowly melted away. Gijon, who are first below the line, have seven points of advantage.

- We're not running away from the fact that lately we've been failing and everyone in the club has to unite and make everything that's possible in order to stop it. So, what should we do? First we have to detect the bad things we're doing in order not to repeat them anymore! Maybe we made a mistake when we paid more attention to the derby with Sevilla than to the away game with Granada. In the end we were defeated in both games and we're again in the danger zone, and that's what we wanted to avoid - manager Victor Sanchez was unsatisfied after the second defeat.

Matias Nahuel will be doing the second match of suspension today, and the standard right defender Cristiano Piccini will join him for the same reason. Jose Carlos and Joaquin Sanchez have been injured from before, but that's why midfielder Dani Ceballos is fully ready and should be among the starting eleven.
