Betis not doing great ahead of city derby

Sevilla are in much greater form than their great rivals but accumulated fatigue could be a problem for them

RCD Espanyol

Betis once again displayed all their moodiness last round. They are capable of stopping Barcelona home but they are also capable of losing a local derby match to horrible Granada. Betis inexplicably conceded 4 goals in Granada but if their defense isn't at a higher level in the city derby match, we could see another disaster at Benito Villamarin. 

Many would say Sevilla are great favorites today but that is just additional motivation for Sanchez:

- Stats says that we have not beat Sevilla for a while. On top of that, they have been in great form this season. On the other hand, that is just extra motivation for us and our fans. We should not look back at what happened. This is a new game, a derby match is always a special chance. Our goal is to be the protagonists in them. We want to open this one fiercely, just like against Barcelona. We proved that we can deal with anyone in the league. 

RCD Espanyol

German Pezzella and Dani Ceballos are no longer suspended, even though the latter is still questionable with a minor knee injury. Midfielder Ryan Donk is still injured, just like Carlos and Sanchez. The less important Nahuel is not suspended anymore but he only gets an occasional start. 

After getting just a point against Espanyol and Villarreal, Sevilla got back on track. They first beat Las Palmas where no visitors won this season. Last weekend, they recorded an easy win over Eibar and a 2-1 triumph in CL over Leicester. They are probably a bit disappointed for not finishing that game with a bigger lead.

Derby matches are always special but Sampaoli says this one is even more important:

- Points from the derby match will be crucial in our race for highest spots in the table. We are in very good form but Betis have put up a good fight against top teams home. I'm sure this game won't be crucial but we have the chance to sit top table at least for a while. We need to seize that opportunity. We had just 66 hours to recuperate. The schedule is what it is. I'll try and field a team which will give me the best possible game.

Defender Lenglet got injured in Champions League against Leicester but Sampaoli has Mercado at his disposal. Tremoulinas and Krohn-Dehli have been injured for a while now. Center back Pareja is most likely to miss this game too.
