Sassari on a positive, Reggio Emilia on a negative run

The team from Sardinia raised their game level, especially in the offense where in the last five home games they didn't have a bad night. The least they recorded was 80 against AEK, all others were over 90

A four-win run in the home championship significantly improved Sassari's situation. They additionally improved their placement into the next phase of the Champions League, so for now all of their goal have been absolutely fulfilled, even though it didn't look like that in December. At the time, coach Pasquini's position wasn't safe, and now it's more than that. That can't be said about Reggiana, though. In the last six games they have five defeats, they're at an equal record as Sassari, and for both this is an important game.

All in all, Sassari's shape is solid, they won in six out of last seven games, the last away in the league against Varese. It wasn't simple, the key was the last quarter, the very final in which they've shown a lot more. It was yet another game in which they were offensively great: they had 31 tries for a three-pointer and 16 recorded shots, only 23 for the two-pointer and over 50% of shots. Stipcevic recorded 21 points, Bell added 13.

On Wednesday they hosted Partizan in a game in which they had no room for making mistakes. They needed to win in order to pass, and they achieved it thanks to the great offense. They recorded 99 points, they shot the three-pointer with an incredible 16-for-30, for two-pointers it was 15-for-22, and with such an offense efficiency Sassari rarely lose. Stipcevic was again great with 23 recorded points, 4-for-5 three-pointers, and Bell added 20 points and 6-for-9 three-pointers.

The only problem before this game for Sassari was the dissatisfaction of Johnos-Odom and Olaseni. They weren't included into the line-up in latest games and there's been talk about them leaving the club. Johnson-Odomo's destination could be Pesaro, while Olaseni's wish to leave hasn't been recent. Carter is back, but it's noticeable that he's been out for a long time.

Today they're hosting a team who beat them in the first part of the competition, even though Sassari were leading by half-time with 12 points of difference. They fell apart in the second half, the defense was transparent and that same defense will be the key of today's match as well.

- We made a lot of errors in the defense against Partizan, and today we can't allow that. We saw what happened in the first head-to-head, Reggiana punished all our slips. Our first half was amazing, and if we repeat that, I think we can win. We're playing well, we're not lacking confidence, and we need to use this good moment - Sassari's coach Federico Pasquini announced the game.

Reggiana is in a completely different mood. Even though they secured the Cup finals a long time ago because they started out the season great, now the situation has changed. They're on a losing run, and the lost one came from a home game against Caserta who were on a five-game losing run before that match. They had everything in their hands, they were leading for 38 minutes, and then they fell apart in overtime.

They had a lot of offensive problems. It's very noticeable how much they're missing captain Aradori whose injury is more serious, so he will miss today's match as well. Della Valle is back, he recorded 13 points, and Kaukenas debuted with eight points. Still, the most efficient was center Cervi with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Polonara added 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Both Cervi and Polonara have a lot of game time because Lesic and James left the club, and now Reggiana is somewhat thinner. Because of that they brought Jalen Reynolds who can play on numbers four and even five. We're talking about a player who came from second-league Recanati where he had top numbers. He recorded for the high 62% for two-pointers, and 77% from free-throws, and today he will debut and take some load off of Cervi.

Today Reggiana will have to play better int he offense. Aradori was their first name of the season, Gentile is also missing who will be back in two weeks, and all of that effects Reggiana's game. They need one good match, and they've beaten Sassari in the last four head-to-heads.

- We were plagued by injuries and that's the main reason for bad results. The players sunk a bit, but we still believe in our possibilities and I hope we'll be able to show that in today's match. Sassari are difficult opponents, they're in better shape, but that doesn't mean that we'll give up. We're going to give our maximum and we'll see where that will bring us - said Max Menetti, Reggiana's coach.
