Alaves know how to deal with the greatest teams

Atletico constantly fail to get ahead of the teams breathing down their necks in the table. That means they need to try and win in Vitoria

Alaves can prevent even the best teams from scoring but they struggle quite a lot when being the favorites. They played only a draw against Leganes last week home but even so, they managed to to safely stay mid-table. Alaves have done a lot better this week in the Cup as they knocked out second-tier Alcorcon to get through to the semis, which is a great success for them. 

The only topic of conversation in Vitoria is now the Cup. Manu Garcia talked about it as well:

- The town got euphoric after we reached the semis. We are to play Celta and fans are convinced that we can beat them in two games. However, euphoria needs to be controlled because we first have to face the powerful Atletico. We proved that we can deal with the top teams this season but in order to do that, we need to be at a tough level. 

Alaves are injury free and complete as center back Feddal and defender Femenia are no longer suspended. 

Atletico had a tough visit to Bilbao last weekend but their job should have been made easier but all the injury struggles at the home team. In the end, they managed to get just a point but still stayed in spot 4. Just like the home team, they were successful in the Cup this week to reach the semis.

- We managed to do well in the Cup and now stop thinking about it until the semis. We are to play a very tough tough away game in Vitoria against Alaves who are doing great this season. Our goal is to stay at a high level. The race for spots for Champions League is fierce. Each point until the end of the season is very important - Simeone said.

The only news is Fernandez's suspension but that shouldn't be a big problem since Simeone has Ressurecion and Niuguez at his disposal. Ferbabdez, Oblak and Mendes have been injured from before, while Partey didn't come back from Africa Cup of Nations yet. Top Atletico player Griezmann is back today after getting a day off when his team played the Cup.
