Malaga still hit by injuries

Real knocked out the powerful Villarreal from the Cup this week but the problem with visitors is that you never know just how they will play any given day

Malaga are having an increasingly tough time dealing with injuries. They went to Vigo and weren't even close to winning. The home team got the lead early on and then scored another two goals. The visitors managed to score once until the end and have dropped into the lower part of the table. However, they are still closer to European spots than danger zone. 

Real Socieded didn't do great last week but Gonzalo Castro was very careful when talking about this game:

- They didn't do great against Sevilla but if you look at the bigger picture, you will see that they have mostly recorded great results lately. Real have a great game, they have a great roster and they are not so high in the table by accident. I also have to say that we are not afraid of them and that they can be beaten. As for us, we can beat anyone home but our game has to be at a level higher than last weekend.

Malaga's injury struggles aren't any better today. It's actually only worse after left back Torres suffered a muscle injury. Charles, Welington, Kuzmanovic, Ricca and Keko are all out with injuries as well, while Kone and En-Nesyri went to Africa for the Cup of Nations. 

Socieded are a moody team that can beat even the toughest opponents on a good day and lose unexpectedly as well. The defeat to Sevilla cannot be characterized as a surprise but no one really expected them to lose 0-4 home. They made amends for that defeat just a few days later when they played a 1-1 draw in Villarreal to get through to Cup QFs. 

- We are to meet Malaga, who are very competitive at La Rosaleda and who can play a high-intensity game. We have the quality and we can stand up to them but we need to do our best. I'm not happy with our occasional declines but we'll do our best today to get three points - the visiting coach said.

Things aren't much better on his team when it comes to injuries either. It seems like center back Navas and defender Zaluda will be ready to play, just like Vela, who has had knee problems lately. Carlos Martinez, Mikel Gonzalez, Imanol Agirretxe and Markel Bergara are all our from before.
