Ther entire league wants success for Liverpool as they take on the top-table team

Liverpool are on a 3-game losing run home in three competitions. If they do not beat top-table Chelsea, they will lose the race for the title. The visitors will be fine with a point at Anfield, where they have no defeats in the last 4 seasons

One of the key games in the Premiership race for the title will be played at Anfield Road today between Liverpool (in spot 4) and Chelsea (top table).

Since they are 10 points apart in the table, it's easy to conclude that without a win in this game, Liverpool can kiss their ambitions for the title goodbye. Chelsea, on the other hand, would not mind getting a point because they are 8 points short of Arsenal. 

Liverool won their first head-to-head of the season (September 16th) at Stamford Bridge by controlling the game. Chelsea did horribly in that game. Not many people believed that just 4 months later, the team from London would become the main contenders for the title. For Liverpool, this derby match could not have come in a worst moment. 

Liverpool have had a horrible month, having recorded just one win - over fourth-tier Plymouth in FA Cup. They are on a three game losing run home, which is something that hasn't happened in a while. 

They recorded those three defeats in three competitions. First to Swansea in Premiership, then to Southampton in League Cup and three days ago, to Wolverhampton in FA Cup. Also, the Chelsea game will be the fourth one for Liverpool in just 10 days. This is their last chance of staying in the race for the title.

There is a lot of pressure of Klopp's team and basically no choice when it comes to tactics for him. His side needs to attack the best defense and the best team in the league. The fact Liverpool are the most efficient team in Premiership with 51 goals in 22 games is encouraging but we should also know that Chelsea have not lost a Premiership game at Anfield in the last 4 years.

The worst defeat for Liverpool was the one from April of 2014, which cost them the title. That game meant nothing to Chelsea. 

- We lost three games in three competitions but losing three in Premiership would have been even worse. I know this is a and moment for meeting Chelsea but that doesn't mean they're impossible to beat away. We beat them in London - Klopp said. He added that forward Mane, who got back from the Africa Cup of Nations yesterday, will be at his disposal.

His absence proved fatal for Liverpool (a point in three games) but Mane is not in a good mood after missing the penalty in the penalty shootout which caused Senegal to lost the QF game to Cameroon.

- Playing for the club is a different thing. Mane had quite the contribution to our success this season. We only need to see what kind of physical state he will be in - Klopp said. His right back Clyne is questionable as well but Lallana is back.

- The entire league will cheer for us to win. We need to do our best to get those three points for ourselves. We know how tough it would be. They have the quality, the confidence and experience. But in single game, that doesn't have to mean anything - Liverpool's coach Klopp said. He has just one defeat as a coach in 14 games against two teams from Manchester, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal. They have a total of 6 wins from them.

Chelsea managed to get 4 wins after the defeat to Tottenham and can basically settle the race for the title this week. 

They will now play in Liverpool and then meet Arsenal. Those wins could knock both of those opponents out of the race. Tottenham would then stay the only potential threat. 

Rock-solid defense and the Italian game-organization, combined with extra-quality individuals in offense is the recipe Conte used this season. Today, we can once again expect Chelsea to be patient and waiting for their opportunities. A lot of people will not be happy with Conte playing it safe but the results are all he cares about.

- Compared to our first meeting with Liverpool, we have improved massively when it comes to game identity and confidence. That is crucial when you play teams at such high level as Liverpool - Conte said. He has all the players at his disposal today. He rested most starters in the 4-0 win over Brentford in FA Cup on Saturday.

- The last Liverpool's results are tough to explain. They are a very good team that can push anyone into defense home. I believe we are able to win this - Conte said. Chelsea managed to keep their goal intact in 13 games in this championship.
