Burnley - Leicester (1:0)

Burnley have not defeated Leicester in the last 10 games

  • Published:

Burnley have recorded great results at home, but they lost each of the last four games Leicester played here, but we should say that these two clubs have not recorded a single away win in this championship

Burnley, who are currently 13th, have been looked at this season through their somewhat incredible point efficiency. They recorded 25 points at home, only one away, but the previous round showed some other things.

Burnley lost to Arsenal again, but after a serious oversight by the referee in the final moments of the game and an offside that was not called, after which they awarded a penalty which Sanchez scored for 2-1. There were other away games where Sean Dyche's team could have recorded a positive result with their performance, but they lacked skill and luck to use their chances.

It is not to soon to say that Burnley will not be relegated this season, like they were two seasons ago, and they confirmed their great home form on Saturday when they defeated Bristol City 2-0 in the FA Cup round of 16.

Their new challenge at the Turf Moor will be stumbling Leicester and Dyche's plan is to go for three points again.

- I believe in this group of players and everything they showed so far, which is the best motivation for them to keep going and try to be even better - Sean Dyche is happy with his team's form, and except for injured Marney, they have no other injury problems, because Johan Berg Gudmundsson and Scott Arfield returned in the Cup game against Bristol City.

- Leicester's position is not realistic for a team of that quality and everyone should be aware that they can start playing. We believe we can stop them in that - Dyche is hopeful, and Burnley are in a 10 game losing run against Leicester, and they lost the last 4 games at their stadium.

Not much, or anything really, is going as planned for Leicester in their post-champions season, and two back-to-back defeats have dropped them down to 15th position with only 5 points over the relegation zone.

Ranieri's team couldn't defeat second division side Derby in the FA Cup, actually, they barely managed to avoid defeat with defender Morgan's goal in the 86th minute for 2-2, so they will play a repeat game at their stadium.

Leicester are, with Burnley, the only other club in the league that has not recorded an away win this season, but they did record 3 draws in 11 tries. The situation is close to alarming, and Claudio Ranieri is aware of the importance of this away game at Burnley, because if they lose, the problem would become much worse.

- Our goal is to record 40 points as soon as possible, which means that every game is important on our path to calmer seas. I believe we will prepare maximally for it and studied the opponent's advantages and faults quite well - said Leicester's coach Claudio Ranieri whose best scorer Slimani got back from the African Cup of Nations injured, but at least Mahrez should start today.

- Burnley have an impressive run at home, which makes our job even more difficult. But we are getting better in away games and I believe the win that we desire so much will come - Ranieri is hopeful, while his team has not scored in the last 3 championship games, and today they will face Tom Heaton on the goal, who made record 93 saves in 20 league games this season.

We should also mention that Leicester already conceded 37 goals in this championship, one more than in the entire season when they were the champions.
