Southampton on a four-game losing run, Leicester with no triumphs in away games

Nothing is going Southampton's way in the championship lately, but in two cup competitions they're very successful and they're up for a second leg of the League Cup on Wednesday against Liverpool, while Leicester didn't record a single win in 10 away games, and Mahrez and Slimani are at Africa Cup of Nations

Southampton rolled on a very uncomfortable four-game losing run in the championship and that brought them down to the 13th place, but at least they're doing well in cups. In the first semi-finals leg of the League Cup they beat Liverpool 1-0, and now they're waiting for the second leg in three days at Anfield, while on Wednesday they eliminated the second-league club Norwich by winning 1-0 in the FA Cup.

The duel against Liverpool on next Wednesday are their top priority at this moment, but before that they have to deal with today's championship match against Leicester. Claude Puel and his players would gladly skip it because they're tired and exhausted, which is no wonder since they played the most official matches out of all the clubs in the league. Also, it would be very important for them to end the negative run and get some confidence before new upcoming challenges.

For instance, after Liverpool they're playing on Saturday against Arsenal in the FA Cup, and three days after that they're having an away game against Swansea in the championship.

- In all of the matches we've lost we stood a lot of chances, but we didn't realize them, while it's very important that Shane Long recorded a goal against Norwich whom we've knocked out of the FA Cup. Leicester are also having problems in the championship, this will be a fierce fight for points because we both need them very much - explained manager Puel who has a lot of problems with absences. Seven players are out, while midfielder Davis and the standard defenders Bertrand and Van Dijk are questionable after their recoveries.

Stopper and captain Fonte transferred to West Ham, but he asked it himself and thus he was suspended from the team in the last few duels.

- In the first half of the season we dominated in Leicester, but it ended as a goalless match because at the time the realization failed us, and I don't want that to happen again. I'd like us to repeat such an edition, but with a few goals recorded from our side, and I know Leicester will focus on counter-attacks an a very firm game, so we have to be ready for that - concluded Puel. Due to Austin's injury he doesn't have a direct scorer, and some players like Tadic and Rodriguez aren't in satisfactory shape, and they are expected to do a lot more in the offense.

In the last two away games against Stoke and Midlesbrough Leicester managed to earn one point each time, but next to Burnley, they have yet to triumph in an away game in this championship. If we add to it the smooth defeat by Chelsea in the last round, and Slimani and Mahrez who are at Africa Cup of Nations, a few positive things can be said about Claudio Ranieri's team.

They lack the wish and the motive from the miraculous last season, and their only goal is to avoid the relegation battle, and the Italian manager's tactics have become an open book for all of his opponents.

- We want to record 40 points as soon as possible, and now we're up for two away games in which we will do everything in order to succeed. Sooner or later we will win - hopes Ranieri, and except for the key offense duo, he's also missing midfielder Amartey who is also away on national team duty.

- Even though they're in a crisis, Southampton are a good team who have a lot of possession, and they're fast. We have to be aggressive and very focused, and now allow the hosts to lead the game. I told my players that we have to improve as soon as possible, and I remember last season where I promised them pizzas if we don't concede a goal, so for five games in a row our net was intact - Ranieri recalls, and this Leicester has nothing to do with the last season's, and they already conceded 34 goals, only two less than in the entire last season's championship.

In the last four away games in Southampton Leicester were only defeated once, but they also never won.
